And, starting from the very nature of Nirvana, for those who have truly entered the Mahayana, by speaking of emptiness, the second wheel of Dharma, which is extremely rare and wonderful, was turned. The wheel of Dharma turned by the Blessed One is also supreme, staged, of indirect meaning, and a source of contention. The Blessed One's dharmas, starting from the absence of self-nature, without arising, without ceasing, originally peaceful, and the very nature of complete Nirvana, starting from these, for those who have truly entered all vehicles, the third wheel of Dharma, which is extremely rare and wonderful, possessing excellent distinctions, was turned. This wheel of Dharma turned by the Blessed One is unsurpassed, unstaged, of definitive meaning, and not a source of contention. Thus it is said. The condensed meaning here can be understood in two ways: namely, the wheel of Dharma to be explained and the wheel of Dharma that explains. The first is further divided into the wheel of the four truths and the wheel of no characteristics. The first is further divided into the accurate exposition of the wheel of Dharma and the denigration of it. The first also needs to be understood by which teacher, at what time, in what place, to what disciple, starting from what is to be said, what wheel of Dharma was turned. The first of these is "by the Blessed One," and so on. The second is "at first," and so on. The third is "in the country of Varanasi," and so on. The fourth is "to the Hearer Vehicle," and so on. The fifth is "the Noble Truths," and so on. The sixth is "the wheel of Dharma, rare and wonderful," and so on. The second, the denigration of that wheel of Dharma, is "the wheel of Dharma turned by the Blessed One is also," and so on. Among these, "supreme" is because the latter two wheels are above it. "For that very reason, it is staged." "Of indirect meaning" is because it is not literal. Precisely because of this, it is a source of contention. The second, the wheel of Dharma without characteristics, is also divided into the accurate exposition of the wheel of Dharma and

This is to show that it is not the known meaning. The first case also has six aspects as before. Who is the teacher? It is said by the Bhagavan. The time is after the turning of the wheel of Dharma of the Four Noble Truths. The place is at Vulture Peak Mountain and so on. From what subject does it begin? It begins from the non-existence of the nature of all dharmas and so on. To whom is it tamed? It is to the Mahayana and so on. The wheel of Dharma is extremely wonderful and extraordinary and so on. Secondly, to show that it is not the ultimate meaning is that the Bhagavan's turning of the wheel of Dharma is also and so on. Among them, the supreme is because the last wheel is in front. Therefore, it is with room for interpretation. Because it is not literal, it is a provisional meaning. Therefore, it becomes the basis of dispute. Thirdly, the explanatory wheel of Dharma is the wheel that is well distinguished, because it distinguishes the intention of the first two wheels without contradiction. This should also be understood through the two aspects of correctly showing the wheel of Dharma and showing its definitive meaning. In the first case, who is the teacher? It is said by the Bhagavan. The time is after the second wheel. The place is at Padmagarbha and so on. What is to be expressed is from the non-existence of the nature of all dharmas and so on. What is to be tamed is those who have correctly entered all vehicles and so on. The wheel of Dharma is well distinguished and so on. Secondly, to show that it is of definitive meaning is the Bhagavan and so on, the supreme is because there is no other wheel above this. Therefore, it is without room for interpretation. The definitive meaning is because here existence and non-existence and so on are distinguished and shown separately, so it is literal. Therefore, it is not the basis of dispute. How do those who consider the intermediate teachings to be of definitive meaning guide this sutra? They explain that all the sutras and so on that show the doctrine of only-consciousness are of provisional meaning. From where is it known that these are of provisional meaning? From scripture and reasoning. Among them, first is the scripture, which is the Lankavatara Sutra.
