Now, if that which causes the object to be produced from something other than itself is the cause, then is the object to be produced existent, non-existent, both, or neither? Because there are no other possibilities. In this regard, the first option is not reasonable, because what need is there for a cause for something that already exists? Because it is not reasonable for something that has already been produced to be produced again. Because the faults of this sort have already been explained. What can a cause do for something that is to be produced but does not exist? Because it is non-existent like a rabbit's horn. Therefore, the Four Hundred says: "If one desires the fruit to be existent, or if one desires the fruit to be non-existent, then pillars etc. for the sake of a house, and also the purpose of decoration, become meaningless." And the treatise also says: "If the fruit's own nature exists, what does the cause produce? If the fruit's own nature does not exist, what does the cause produce?" This is what is being said here. If it is both existent and non-existent, then what can conditions do for that? Because the faults already mentioned will occur in both cases, and because the nature of existence and non-existence cannot exist in one thing at the same time. Therefore, the treatise also says: "How can Nirvana be both existent and non-existent? These two cannot exist in one thing, like light and darkness." This is what is being said here. What can conditions do for a fruit that is separate from both existence and non-existence? Because the fruit is not existent, having abandoned both existence and non-existence. And when both existence and non-existence are not established, because they are negated, the negated existence is not, and the non-existence is not, and this cannot be established either. As the treatise also says: "What is the Nirvana that shows neither non-existence nor non-non-existence? If the existent and the non-existent are established, then it will be established." This is what is being said here. Secondly, the refutation in terms of convention is divided into two parts: refuting the argument and presenting the answer. The first is: All the reasons that we have stated in order to establish that production is from another, like dry wood soaked in butter, are burned by the fire of your intellect, so you are devoted to kindling the fire of your intellect, piling up

If merely relying on worldly claims is sufficient. If reasoning is not shown, is it not the case that the desired goal cannot be achieved? It is not so, because even without reasoning, other-origination is proven from worldly fame. For example: Abiding in one's own view, considering the world to be a reliable measure, then, what is the use of stating reasoning here? Other-origination can also be understood by worldly people, therefore, other-origination exists, what is the use of reasoning here? These worldly people do not follow reasoning, but abide in their own views, engaging in acceptance and rejection, and as they do, they also obtain results. Therefore, since the views of worldly people themselves are considered a reliable measure, in the context of establishing other-origination, what is the use of stating reasoning? Because things arising from other causes and conditions can also be understood by the views of worldly people. Therefore, even without reasoning, other-origination exists, so in establishing other-origination here, what is the use of reasoning? If it is said that preventing other-origination is also obstructed by the views of worldly people, then, the answer to this is: Ancillary Explanation of the Establishment of the Two Truths. Ancillary explanation of the establishment of the two truths, and that the mundane world cannot obstruct. First, for those who have not correctly understood the meaning of the treatises, whose habits of clinging to appearances as things in beginningless samsara are fully matured, and who, when hearing, do not separate from the friends of clinging to appearances as things, relying on the perversion of worldly obstruction, if the many and vast sources of the worldly are not shown, it is impossible to be liberated from the perversion of worldly obstruction. Therefore, for the time being, let us explain the establishment of the two truths. Among these, the classification of the two truths includes a general indication and an explanation of their respective natures. First, it also includes the classification of things and ancillary false appearances. From the perspective of the first: All things, with true false appearances, obtain things, clinging to self-nature. What is the place of true seeing, that is the conventional truth of confused appearances. Thus it is said. This is to say that the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, who understand the nature of the two truths without error, closely show that for all internal and external things, there are two natures to be clung to. For example, the meaning
