In short, according to the scriptures, as stated in the *Laṅkāvatāra Sūtra*: "In the southern country of Vidarbha, there will be a monk named Glorious, whose name will be Nāga. He will destroy the views of existence and non-existence. In this world, he will teach the unsurpassed Great Vehicle of my teachings. Having attained the stage of great joy, he will go to the Pure Land." Also, as stated in the *Mahāmegha Sūtra*: "Ānanda, this Licchavi youth named Delightful to See, four hundred years after my passing, he will become a monk named Nāga. He will greatly propagate my teachings, and eventually, in the world called Pure Light, he will become the Tathāgata, Arhat, Samyaksaṃbuddha, the Buddha of Light, the Source of Wisdom, called Light." Therefore, it can be proven that this treatise has accurate scriptural basis. Secondly, regarding to whom it should be taught, this includes examining the capacity of the listeners and encouraging them to listen. First, this treatise, which correctly explains dependent origination, should only be taught to those who, due to the power of past habituation, have planted the seeds of emptiness in their minds, and not to others. Because even if they hear about emptiness, they will misunderstand it and create great harm. For example, sometimes they will abandon emptiness because they do not believe in it, and thus fall into the lower realms. Sometimes they will misunderstand the meaning of emptiness, thereby denying all things and generating wrong views. Therefore, the speaker should especially understand the differences in the listeners' intentions and then explain the view of emptiness to them. So, how can one know who is suitable to be taught emptiness and who is not? This can be determined by external signs. For example, even ordinary people, when they hear about emptiness, repeatedly feel joy in their hearts, joy arises, tears fill their eyes, and the hairs of their body stand on end. Such people have the seeds of perfect enlightenment in their hearts, and they are suitable to be taught. The ultimate truth should be taught to them. Even in the stage of ordinary beings, they will...

Even just hearing the sound of emptiness, one is not afraid, and joy repeatedly arises in the mind. Because of that, tears fill the eyes and the body's hairs stand on end. This is because there is a seed for realizing emptiness, which is the cause of perfect enlightenment. Therefore, the vessel for teaching suchness is such a person. Therefore, the ultimate truth, which is characterized by what will be explained, should be taught to him. Why is that? Because the qualities that follow it will arise in him. Such a listener will not only not generate the faults caused by wrongly entering emptiness, but all the qualities that follow the view of emptiness will arise. How does it arise? He thinks that listening to emptiness is like finding a treasure, and in order to prevent it from deteriorating, he will always take and abide by the precepts. He gives generously and relies on compassion. He cultivates patience and dedicates virtue to enlightenment. He dedicates himself entirely to saving beings, and he respects the bodhisattvas. He thinks to himself: If I fall into the lower realms due to breaking the precepts, the view of emptiness will be interrupted. Thinking this, he always takes the precepts correctly and abides by them. Even if I am born in a good rebirth through the precepts, if I become arrogant and focus on seeking food, clothing, and other necessities of life, listening to emptiness will be interrupted. Thinking this, he gives generously. The view of emptiness, when grasped by compassion, leads to Buddhahood, but not otherwise. Therefore, he cultivates compassion. Anger leads to going to the lower realms and obtaining an ugly appearance, so the noble ones will not be pleased by it. Thinking this, he cultivates patience. Precepts and so on that are not dedicated to omniscience will not become the cause of Buddhahood, so he dedicates all roots of virtue to great enlightenment for the sake of saving beings. He thinks that no one other than a bodhisattva can teach the suchness of dependent arising without error, so he thinks this and
