Therefore, the appearance of wisdom born from meditating on the thirty-seven factors of enlightenment will be even greater than the previously described light of copper. Therefore, in order to generate the light of the fire of true wisdom, this bodhisattva ground is called the Radiant Ground. On this ground, not only is the path to enlightenment cultivated, but also all connections with the view of self are completely exhausted. The bodhisattva who dwells on this ground will completely exhaust all manifest attachments to sentient beings, life, birth, nourishment, and persons, etc., which are connected with the view of self and what belongs to self. From the Entering the Middle Way, the explanation of the fourth Bodhisattva ground, called the Radiant.

It is said, "For those who are manifestly inclined towards the Dharma, seeing the suchness of this very condition, by abiding in wisdom, one will attain cessation." Thus it is said, on the fifth ground, with the perfection of meditative absorption completely purified, one abides in a mind that is in equipoise, manifestly inclined towards the sixth ground. That Bodhisattva who sees the suchness of profound dependent origination by merely this condition, by abiding in the perfection of wisdom completely purified, will attain absorption in cessation, which is characterized by the pacification of all elaborations. But not before that, because there is no superior wisdom, because even if generosity and so forth are excellent, one cannot attain cessation. Why is this ground called 'manifestly inclined'? Because one has understood the nature of phenomena, which is like an image, and because Bodhisattvas on the fifth ground focus on the truth of the path, and because they are manifestly inclined towards the Dharma of the fully enlightened Buddha, therefore this ground is called 'manifestly inclined.' Incidentally, in order to speak of the greatness of the perfection of wisdom, it is said: Just as a crowd of the blind are all easily led by one person with eyes to the place they desire, so here too, wisdom takes the qualities of those with impaired vision and leads them to victory. Thus it is said, just as all the crowds of the blind, all those who avoid precipices and so forth, are easily led by one person with eyes to the place they manifestly desire, so too, in these six perfections, by wisdom, that is, by the perfection of wisdom, all the qualities of generosity and so forth, which are like impaired vision, are taken and led to the ground of the Victorious One, the Tathagata, called 'all-illuminating,' because it is the nature of seeing the right path and the wrong path. Explanation of the nature of the object. Thus, the other five perfections, such as generosity, are like the blind, because if they are separated from the eye of the perfection of wisdom, they cannot go to the place of omniscience. Therefore, here, 'the other shore' is the ultimate place to be reached—the place of omniscience. Here, because one goes to that other shore, 'perfection' is called the

is non-conceptual wisdom. Since this is the nature of transcendence (pāramitā), it is called transcendence (pāramitā), which is the wisdom of omniscience. The other five, such as generosity, attain the name of transcendence when they are grasped by the transcendence of wisdom. Because generosity and so on, which are completely grasped by it, become the cause of omniscience. Therefore, they are similar to transcendence and are called transcendence. What is the nature of the transcendence of wisdom? It is non-conceptual wisdom. To what extent is it called non-conceptual? When the mind of a yogi is separated from all the characteristics of proliferation and becomes the essence of suchness, then it is called non-conceptual. As it is said in the Bodhicaryāvatāra: When knower and known, Do not abide before the mind, Then, without other aspects, It is utterly pacified without object. It is said like this. If non-conceptual wisdom is knowledge, or is it not knowledge? If it is the former, since knowledge is distinguished by objects, the proliferation of object and subject should not be pacified. If it is the latter, how can it realize suchness? Because of the faults mentioned above, the first view is not desired. Even so, there will be no fault of not realizing suchness, because the very fact that true wisdom does not grasp anything is called realizing suchness. Then would sleep and fainting and so on also become realizing suchness? Is merely stopping conceptualization non-conceptual? Is that what you say? If so, then sleep and so on would also become non-conceptual. So what is it? A yogi first examines the nature of all phenomena in detail with the wisdom of individual examination. When examining, not even a particle of the nature of any phenomenon is observed. After that, the yogi places his mind on such a nature of reality. When placed, how does the yogi's mind become the nature of such a nature of reality, and does not grasp any of the characteristics of knower, knowable, and so on? When arising from that, one thinks, "All phenomena are like the center of the sky."
