That person will not have enjoyment. If one is separated from the root of discipline, not only will there be no enjoyment in the future, but it will also be very difficult to emerge from the lower realms if one falls into them. To explain this reason, it is said: Freely entering and abiding in a conducive place, If at that time one does not restrain oneself, Falling into a precipice, turned by the power of others, At that time, who will be able to rescue from there? As it is said, a hero abiding in a conducive place is like being freed from bondage, freely entering without relying on others, abiding in a place conducive to practicing the path, or relying on the abode of gods and humans. At that time, these individuals guard their discipline, and if they do not guard themselves from falling into the lower realms, it is like a hero being bound by iron chains and abandoned in a large mountain ravine, falling into the precipice of the three lower realms, controlled by the power of karma and intense afflictions. At that time, from that terrifying precipice, what means can rescue them? Therefore, the Victorious One, after proclaiming the words of generosity, proclaims the words that follow discipline. Because of this, the Victorious One, who subdues all sinful dharmas, first proclaims the words praising generosity to those to be tamed, and then, in order to not let the merits of generosity and others be wasted, proclaims the words praising discipline. The reason for this is: If merit increases in the field of discipline, The fruit of enjoyment will arise without interruption. Because discipline itself is the basis of all merits, discipline itself is the field. Relying on it, all merits such as generosity are increased, then the continuity of cause and effect, from top to bottom, will not be interrupted in sequence. In an uninterrupted way, the great accumulation of fruits will be enjoyed for a long time. Therefore: Ordinary beings, hearers, and solitary realizers, The determined self and the sons of the Buddhas, The cause of higher rebirth and definite goodness, Other than discipline, there is none. Ordinary beings, hearers born from the words of the Sage, solitary realizers, and the higher rebirth of the sons of the Buddhas, the cause of cyclic happiness, and definite goodness,

The cause of liberation, which is characterized by neither happiness nor suffering, is none other than the discipline that is the very nature of the path of the ten virtuous actions. Thus, by engaging in minor, moderate, and major non-virtuous actions, which are contrary, one will experience ripening in the realms of pretas, animals, and hells. As an antidote to that, by engaging in minor virtuous actions of the ten virtuous paths, one will attain the status of gods and humans. If one engages in moderate virtuous actions, being completely embraced by the mind that is certain to be liberated from the three realms, one will attain the enlightenment of the Hearers and Solitary Realizers. And if one engages in major virtuous actions, being completely embraced by great compassion, one will attain unsurpassed enlightenment. Secondly, it is taught that the Bodhisattva's discipline does not associate with what is contrary. Just as the ocean does not associate with a corpse, and auspiciousness does not associate with a black-nosed woman, so too, the great one who is lorded over by discipline does not wish to dwell with the immoral. Just as the ocean does not dwell in the same place as a corpse, and auspicious qualities do not dwell with a black-nosed woman, so too, as explained above, the great one who is lorded over by completely pure discipline, who abides on the second ground, does not wish to dwell with immoral discipline. Thirdly, the distinction between worldly and transmundane discipline is taught. Whoever abandons what with what for whom, if there is an objectification of the three, then that discipline is said to be a worldly perfection. Whoever, the agent, abandons what, the action such as killing, for whom, the sentient being who is the basis of the action, if there is an objectification of these three, then that discipline is said to be a worldly perfection. Empty of attachment to the three, it is transmundane. That very discipline, being seized by the perfection of wisdom, being empty of attachment to these three and free from manifest clinging, is called a transmundane perfection. Speaking of the qualities of the ground and concluding: The glorious son of the Victorious One, who is neither existence nor non-existence, arising from the moon, stainless and immaculate, this also, like the autumn moonlight, dispels the suffering of beings' minds. This is
