Thus, giving is shown to be the cause of high status, and it also certainly becomes the cause of excellence, like this: This is also when is the time of giving, when will one quickly meet the noble beings? From then on, having completely cut off the continuum of existence, becoming the cause of that (noble path), one will go to peace. Because it says in the sutras, "The giver, the one who gives, is where the noble ones go," therefore, even if this does not conform to the behavior of the giver, if he delights in giving, then when is the time of giving, when will one quickly meet the noble beings? From then on, because he recognizes from the path shown by that (noble one) that there is no merit in samsara, thereby directly realizing the stainless noble path, abandoning ignorance, completely cutting off the stream of existence that continues from one life to another, becoming the cause of that (noble path), one will go to the peace of nirvana. Like this, for the time being, let alone the giving of non-bodhisattvas is also the cause of high status and nirvana. Second, the giving of bodhisattvas is particularly praised: Those who vow to benefit beings, sentient beings, through giving, will not take long to obtain joy. If non-bodhisattvas, because they expect the ripening result of giving, so they cannot enjoy the fruit of giving at the same time as giving, therefore it is possible that they do not engage in giving. However, sentient bodhisattvas who vow to benefit all beings and generate bodhicitta, only at the same time as giving can they enjoy the fruit of giving, because they do not expect the ripening result of giving, but only wish for the happiness of others. Therefore, through giving, it will not take long, just seeing the beggars satisfied, one can obtain the joy of the heart. Therefore, at all times one will be happy to give. It is the same for those with compassion and those without compassion. Therefore, the words of giving itself are considered the root. For the bodhisattvas with compassion and the others without compassion, giving is the cause of high status and excellence, therefore, the words of praise for giving itself are considered the root of all virtues. From where do bodhisattvas respect giving? Beggars

If asked, what is the difference in joy of the Bodhisattvas who arise from seeing the satisfied faces of others? It is like hearing the sound of "Give!" If the Buddhas, Shravakas, and Pratyekabuddhas enter into peaceful Nirvana, they cannot bring happiness. So, having abandoned all internal and external things, seeing the satisfied bodily and verbal gestures of beggars, how much greater is the difference in joy of the Bodhisattva, need it be said? Just as when beggars come before them and hear them say, "Please give us these and those differences in body and possessions," thinking, "These people are begging from me," Bodhisattvas repeatedly arise with joy in their hearts. Even if the Buddhas, Shravakas, and Pratyekabuddhas enter into peaceful Nirvana, they cannot bring happiness. So, having abandoned all internal and external things, seeing and hearing the satisfied bodily and verbal gestures of beggars, how much greater is the difference in joy of the Bodhisattva, need it be said? Thus, when Bodhisattvas who abandon all internal and external things are in the state of abandoning their bodies and limbs, etc., do they not experience bodily suffering? There are two types of Bodhisattvas: those who abide in the state of non-attachment and those who have attachment. For the great beings who abide in the state of non-attachment, it is impossible for bodily suffering to arise, just as if cutting inanimate objects, because they see the body as without inherent existence. Therefore, in the Samadhi of the Noble Akashagarbha, it is said: "For example, there is a great grove of Sala trees, and someone comes there and cuts down one Sala tree. The remaining Sala trees do not think, 'This tree has been cut down, we have not been cut down.' They do not have attachment or anger towards it, and there is no conceptualization or discrimination. Such patience of the Bodhisattva is completely pure and equal to space." The Ratnavali also says: "In that there is no bodily suffering, how can there be mental suffering? He suffers for the world with compassion, and he abides in that for a long time." This is what is being said. For the great beings who have not attained the state of non-attachment, bodily suffering may arise.
