Secondly, things exist by their own nature, because there is a distinction to be recognized. For example: If things did not exist, how could fire become hot? Therefore, because the distinction of things can be recognized, things exist by their own nature. If you say so, heat becomes fire itself, how can what is not heat burn? Therefore, the thing called firewood, if it does not exist, then fire does not exist. Like this, the fire with the nature of heat also does not exist, which has already been refuted above. Therefore, because there is no distinction, things do not have their own essence. Furthermore, if seeing the thing of fire can refute the non-existence of the thing of fire, then, based on the reason of dependent arising, etc., seeing the non-existence of the substance of things, why can't things also be refuted? Like this, existence and non-existence, and existence and non-existence, and the way of saying neither existence nor non-existence, the wise should always apply them to one and many, etc. If analyzed in this way, in all four positions, what can be seen that is free from faults? Therefore, because faults are seen in all four positions, it is not reasonable to completely adhere to any one position. Moreover, it is not reasonable to adhere to any one position, because the analysis of whether or not there are parts also applies to particles. If analyzed in this way, for extremely subtle material particles, there is no truly existing substance anywhere, so how do particles arise and come into being? They simply do not arise. The sun's rays, possessing the realm of non-manifestation, understanding the true reality of things without distortion, dispelling the thick darkness of ignorance, for the Buddhas who are perfectly enlightened, even non-existence is irrelevant in relation to their wisdom, because they do not cling to any things, so just as they do not see existence, they also do not see non-existence itself. Thirdly, for all conditioned and unconditioned phenomena, neither things nor non-things exist as two. For example, for the time being, for permanent phenomena, that is, unconditioned phenomena that are not assembled by causes and conditions, it is not possible to examine them by distinguishing between existence or non-existence, because the permanent phenomenon itself, which is the basis for examination, does not exist. For conditioned phenomena that arise from causes and conditions, because they have no inherent nature, they cannot be examined by existence or non-existence.
