If it is said to be so, then according to any proponent, it is impossible for the past and future to exist without an interval, therefore there is no being-born. Because for the being-born, there are other intervals, and for that interval there are other intervals, and so on, it will become endless. Like this, just as the being-born exists between the past and future, for the being-born of the nature of born and unborn, there must be other intervals in order to establish what is born and unborn in dependence on what. This is also unreasonable, because in all cases, positing other being-born between the born and unborn will lead to the fault of endlessness. Second, refuting the being-born that is different from this: If, because it would lead to the fault as mentioned before, the half-born is not being-born, then what is it? Because, whatever being-born ceases, the born thing will arise, what is the meaning of the state before the born, that is called being-born. Therefore, does the being-born also exist outside the half-born? If it can be clearly pointed out that this thing arises from this being-born, and it can be inferred from the being-born the born thing, then when the thing is born, the being-born has ceased, it is impossible to exist, and since it does not exist, how can the born thing arising from the being-born be inferred through the being-born? This is not established. Third, refuting that the born is being-born: If the born is being-born, then when the born is being-born, why will the being-born arise? Because it is impossible for the already born to be born again. Fourth, refuting that the unborn is being-born, divided into two types of refutation: reality and avoiding faults, the first is: Whatever is being-born is only unborn, but because it manifestly tends towards arising, it is called arising. Therefore, the born is being-born. This is also not a meaningless arising, because when the unborn is called born, the born will also become unborn, in this way, there is no difference between the born and unborn. In the state of being born, the pot that performs the function of drawing water, etc.

Also, do not think that it is unborn and non-existent. This is not existence, therefore it is unreasonable. The second case is: if it is said that there is no difference between what is being born and what is unborn, because what is being born is an object related to the act of birth. If it is said that although what is being born is incomplete from the act of birth, it is different from what is unborn because it is related to the act of birth. Even if you establish it in this way, what is being born is different from what is unborn because it is related to the act of birth, and it is also different from what is born. Because it is the nature of birth that is incomplete. Therefore, if what is being born is born, it will become the unborn being born. Moreover, from here it will also become the unborn being born, what is now called being born, although there was no being born before, but later it is related to the act of birth, so there will be being born, because of this reason, it will also become only the unborn being born, because it was not being born before, and later it became like that because it was related to the act of birth. If it is said that what is the fault of the unborn being born? The unborn refers to things that have not appeared, things that have not obtained their own self, and the act of birth is not applicable to it, so it is not birth. Second, summarizing the main points: the act of birth being completed is called the existence of things, and what is not done and not completed is called non-existence. These two are mutually exclusive and contradictory, so there is no third case. Therefore, when there is no so-called being born other than completion and incompleteness, then what thing will be called being born? Therefore, its own nature cannot be determined, so it is not existence. Fourth, the conclusion of refutation: when analyzed in this way, there is no result other than the cause, so when the cause and effect have no self-nature, because there is no basis, the entry of the fruit arising and the return of the cause ceasing are unreasonable. As the Blessed One said: Sentient beings, humans, or those born with great strength, here, those who are born and die, there are none who are born. The nature of all dharmas is like the sky, empty.
