Moreover, the appearance of the mind, like an illusion, is merely a delusion arising from ignorance, like seeing hairs in the vision of someone with cataracts. Its essence, like the sky, does not abide anywhere and is beyond the realm of knowledge and expression. Just as applying eye medicine can eliminate cataracts and reverse the appearance of hairs, when the cataract of ignorance is eliminated by the eye medicine of emptiness, it ceases on its own. Therefore, it should be understood that the Dharmakaya and Nirvana of the Buddhas are completely without characteristics such as appearances, and have the nature of the sky. Those who are not afraid of such a realm, but rather generate joy and have the desire to abide in such a realm someday, are truly seeking liberation. But those who are alarmed and frightened when they hear such words, saying, "What is the use of attaining such liberation?" and whose minds wander outward, do not even have the slightest desire for liberation, so how can the path of liberation arise in their minds? Second, if it is thought that consciousness exists by its own nature, and that without it, phenomena cannot be distinguished, then consciousness, like consciousness, does not exist apart from consciousness because it has the same nature. And consciousness is not self-existent either, like this: "A sprout does not arise from a seed that is spoiled or unspoiled; all your arising is said to be like the arising of an illusion." Like this, when mental consciousness arises in dependence on the eye and form, it does not arise from a cause that has already ceased, because something that does not exist cannot serve as a cause. Nor does it arise from a cause that has not ceased, because if cause and effect exist simultaneously, it would lead to the fault of not being mutually dependent. Therefore, just as a sprout arises from an illusionary seed, only the appearance of delusion will arise. If this were self-existent, then for something that is self-existent, it should not be called an illusion, just as one would not call a real woman in the world an illusion. Consciousness arises in the manner of an illusion, and the sutras also state that it is similar to an illusion, therefore consciousness has no self-nature. Third, explaining the absence of truth as the cause of wonder: In any case, the senses grasp objects

It is impossible. If it is said that eye consciousness arises dependent on the eye and form, is this a wonder? This is not the only cause for wonder. For example, sprouts do not arise from seeds that are dead or not dead, but sprouts arise dependent on seeds; actions that have been done and accumulated, having ceased and passed for a long time, nothing remains, but now the result arises; pots and so on, if sought with five aspects in their own proximate cause, are not found, and these things such as honey and water, which are established in dependence, are they not also a great wonder? Therefore, if it is like that, then for the wise, in the manner described, there is nothing on earth that is not wonderful, all beings appear as a cause of wonder like a magic trick, at that time, since the senses are not true, what is there to wonder about in understanding the meaning? It is only that one is amazed at the fact that something that should not exist exists in some aspects, but it is not the same nature in all aspects, because the heat of fire is not a cause for wonder. Secondly, similar to the unreal, illusion, etc.: Because its own nature is uncertain, it changes according to the conditions, therefore for the wise, just as seeing a fire wheel formed by rapidly rotating a rope with fire, although it appears inverted in the form of a wheel, it is not actually there. Women and Buddhas manifested by the power of samadhi, although not there, become the cause of all afflictions and liberation. The dream body that appears in consciousness associated with sleep, although not real, becomes the cause of inverted attachment to self. The young woman conjured by a magician, although empty of a real young woman, bewilders those who do not understand her nature. The moon in water, which arises from the interdependence of water and the moon, although empty of reality, becomes the cause of children's inverted clinging to the moon. The smoke that arises dependent on certain places and times appears real to those who are far away. The density of the mountains, the solitude of the mountains, and the rocks in the depths of the valleys, give rise to the thought that sound is real to people.
