O! Why, like guiding those who are not holy, are they not happy to enter Nirvana? Because they fear the emptiness of the path to Nirvana. Who would fear emptiness? For those who are not proficient in the terms of the scriptures, such as cowherds, even if emptiness is explained a hundred times, they will not enter into it at all, because they do not see the meaning of emptiness and dare not begin, and they are bewildered by the momentary destruction, like holding the fire of hell with wrong views. Through the stages of hearing, thinking, and meditating, the wise who see the meaning of emptiness as it is will eliminate that fear in all circumstances, because they are free from the attachment to the cause of fear—self and what belongs to self. Just as if one is sure that it is a rope, one will no longer have the fear of mistaking it for a snake. Therefore, for those who see things as they are, and for those who do not see at all and do not generate fear, it is necessary to let them understand the meaning of emptiness a little. For those who understand a little but do not understand well, efforts should be made to help them overcome fear. For example, when subduing a drunken elephant, a well-trained person will not be afraid, and an extremely ignorant person will not be afraid either, because they just think that being able to ride on it is great, but they do not know the faults of falling, etc. Those who understand a little will think, "Can I do it? Can't I do it?", and therefore they are very afraid. Also, why do those who understand a little not seek higher fruit before their strength is complete? Because they are accustomed to inversion and not accustomed to emptiness, they are afraid. Just like ignorant ordinary people, they are always accustomed to clinging to things as real, which is the very Dharma that makes them fall into Samsara, but for the self-nature emptiness that hinders Samsara, they are not accustomed to it, so they will fear this emptiness that can liberate them from Samsara. Therefore, the holy ones should strive to explain this Dharma of self-nature emptiness to those who have the capacity. Secondly, the fault of hindering entry into other-emptiness is: Some people not only do not believe in emptiness, but are also obscured by afflictions such as ignorance and jealousy, and think that the tru

For a person who has become a vessel for the Dharma, creating obstacles to seeing and hearing the suchness, that person will definitely go to the lower realms. In that case, there is no chance for goodness, not even the status of gods and humans, let alone the opportunity for the words of liberation. Has this not harmed the continuum of one's own nature? Because that lamp of wisdom pervades all directions, its light is extremely clear, its power enters the three times without diminishing, and it increases its collection of light day by day in order to destroy the darkness of ignorance. It has the ability to illuminate all the thoughts of beings, arising in the continuum, but instead, it promotes harm to it. Seeing that this itself harms both oneself and others, the Bhagavan said: 'Falling from discipline is greater, but not from view.' Thus it is said in the sutras. To this, the teacher said: 'With discipline, etc.,' If discipline is lost, if the correct view is not destroyed, then only the maturation of being born as a hungry ghost, animal, or hell-being will occur, in small, medium, and large stages. If the loss of view is extremely small, its maturation cannot be compared to countless hundreds and thousands of losses of discipline, let alone a great loss. The maturation of discipline only allows ordinary beings who have not generated the correct view to go to happy realms and the heavens. The perfect correct view eliminates the darkness of ignorance that has entered since beginningless time, reveals it before all realms of sentient beings, and leads to the supreme state of Nirvana. Therefore, the wise should recognize that seeing suchness is extremely important, and strive to not lose it. Third, one should not teach emptiness to the inferior: Having seen the faults of losing the view in this way, one should not teach selflessness to those who are not vessels, because that will only become the cause of non-meaning. As it is said: 'Teaching to the foolish will lead to confusion, not peace. Drinking milk with gestures will only become the cause of increasing poison.' Thus it is said. Therefore, for those who do not believe in the Dharma of selflessness, and

For those non-noble individuals who are manifestly attached to self-grasping, teaching that aligns with self-grasping is supreme for the sake of turning them away from misdeeds. Because they are attached to self and desire benefit and happiness for themselves in the future, turning away from misdeeds makes it easier to attain happy migrations. Teaching selflessness is not supreme, because abandoning and distorted conceptions will destroy its three doors. Therefore, when this selflessness is taught, one who is not a wise person who has wrongly entered into selflessness will go to the lower realms and not to peace. But teaching one who is not an ordinary person, who is a suitable vessel, and who is close to the supreme, will go to peace and not to the lower realms. Fourth, the characteristic of the selflessness to be taught is: What is that selflessness that should not be taught to those who are not noble, but should be taught to the noble? Entering the city of Nirvana, this is the only peerless door, therefore it is the door of peace without a second. And seeing it destroys all bad views of entities, dependent origination, permanence, annihilation, and so on. Abiding in the realm of wisdom of the Hearers, Solitary Buddhas, and Perfectly Awakened Buddhas, or being inseparable from the Dharmakaya and abiding in the realm of wisdom of all the Buddhas, that is called selflessness. This selflessness with the characteristics as described above should not be taught to those of weak intellect, because even just the names of this selfless dharma, such as "emptiness," will cause fear in those who are not noble and unsuitable vessels for the profound. Thus, seeing selflessness is powerful, because it uproots all non-noble views. Non-noble views are weak, because they are to be uprooted. It is certain that whatever is powerful causes fear in the weak. For where in the world is a strong person seen who does not cause fear in the weak? For example, just seeing powerful beings such as tigers and lions causes fear in others. Third, teaching the profound not for the sake of argument has two parts: the actual and the incidental. First: If this selflessness is a bad view...
