Because there exists a powerful abiding dharma, and there is no abiding dharma that does not possess power. Furthermore, does impermanence itself arise simultaneously with the basis of designation, conditioned phenomena, or does it arise later? Because the nature and the basis of designation are not confused, if impermanence itself always exists in time, then the abiding does not always exist, because impermanence, which contradicts it, is always associated with it. If you want to avoid that fault and want to be associated with impermanence later, then because it previously possessed abiding, it has already become permanent, and later it becomes impermanent by being associated with impermanence, then one thing is both permanent and impermanent, which is not reasonable. Furthermore, because the characteristics of conditioned phenomena do not confuse each other, if abiding and impermanence exist simultaneously on the basis of designation, the object, then impermanence on the object becomes false, because abiding exists. Or the existence of abiding becomes false, because impermanence exists. Second, the refutation of the sign of memory: If time exists, because the basis of the abiding of conditioned phenomena is past time. If past things do not exist, then the memory that I became like this and that in the past is unreasonable. Memory is focused on what has been experienced before, and what has been seen before has ceased, so it does not appear later. When it does not appear, the mind with that object will not arise again. Therefore, memory is focused on the meaning of cessation and non-self-existence, and only non-self-existence arises. For example, like the object experienced in a dream, memory arises when awake. The past is not completely non-existent, because it is the object of memory, and its result can be seen. But it does not exist in its own nature, because it would become permanent, and it would become the object of real clinging. Therefore, because there is memory that arises from focusing on such a thing, the past outside of things is not established as existing in its own nature. In the Four Hundred Verses on Yoga Practice, this is the explanation of the meditation on refuting time, that is, the explanation of the eleventh chapter. Explanation of chapter twelve. Second, refuting what is to be observed. The cause of not conforming to the well-spoken. Briefly explain the well-spoken. Liberation

The advice on adopting excellent speech is divided into three parts. The first part: Demonstrating the difficulty of the listener possessing the vessel; Demonstrating the profundity of emptiness to be heard; Demonstrating that profundity is not for the sake of argument; Demonstrating the subtlety and grossness of the nature, in four points. The first point has two aspects: the direct and the incidental. The first is: Here it is said, you have explained this doctrine of selflessness very clearly and extensively, and the Tathagata is also close to those who understand and guide this doctrine, so why do most people in the world not engage in this doctrine? Because the author, the explainer, and the very nature of the greatness of this doctrine are all very difficult to find. Therefore, if those who desire liberation should only engage in this, then what is the difference between those who speak of self and other as real? Although the speaker, the explainer, and the nature of the doctrine are very pure, it is difficult to find a listener who is worthy of being a vessel for this doctrine, such as being impartial and not clinging to one's own or others' sides, without anger, not biased towards any side, and remaining neutral; possessing the wisdom to distinguish between good and bad speech, essence and non-essence; pursuing good speech, respecting the Dharma and the Dharma speakers, and trusting them. Having three or five of these qualities is said to be the vessel of the listener of good speech. Because listeners with these qualities are very rare, most people in the world do not engage in this doctrine. The faults of the listener turn the virtues of the speaker into faults, and vice versa. If the listener has the characteristics described above, then the virtues of the speaker, such as being eloquent, accurate in meaning, coherent, clear in expression, understanding the listener's intentions, and not being greedy for fame and profit, will not become faults. Similarly, the virtues of the listener will not become faults. Therefore, even if the speaker's Dharma is pure, those listeners who do not reflect on their own faults will consider the speaker to have faults. For example, the Blessed One described the five aggregates of appropriation as the fruit of existence, and that existence
