Due to the influence of various factors, all bland and rich flavors turn into medicine, just as they change. Ninth, the benefit of realizing emptiness is: Among these teachings of existence and non-existence, etc., which is the correct definitive meaning? Because the inner self merges into the mind, the teaching that shows neither is the ultimate teaching. If one correctly sees that ultimate with wisdom that transcends the world, one will attain the supreme state of Nirvana. If one sees it slightly with the wisdom of worldly meditation and study, one will attain a good rebirth, that is, attain the status of gods and humans. Because it is so, those who are skilled in contemplating the emptiness of the inner self should always increase their wisdom. If one contemplates the inner self, will one attain Nirvana in this very life? If one possesses diligence, etc., then one can attain it even in this life. Even if one is skilled in knowing Suchness, if some conditions such as diligence are not complete, then one cannot attain Nirvana in this life. However, in the next life, merely by relying on solitary conditions, one will surely attain Nirvana effortlessly. For example, even if the result of actions done out of ignorance does not ripen in this life, it will undoubtedly ripen in the next life. Therefore, in the Root Verses on the Middle Way, it says: "When the Buddhas have not appeared, and the Shravakas have also ceased, the wisdom of the solitary Buddhas arises from the absence of teaching." It is like that. If there are those who know Suchness, why are the liberated ones not visible? Mere contemplation is not the cause of the accomplishment of the result, but the gathering of causes and conditions is, and that is also very difficult. Therefore, proper thought is action, and accomplishment in all results is very rare. Similarly, in this teaching of the Buddhas of the three times, it is not that there are no aspirants for Nirvana, but even so, because the gathering of external conditions such as virtuous friends and internal conditions such as proper attention is difficult, liberated ones are also difficult to find. Tenth, showing that it is possible to reverse afflictions and rebirth: If this collection of afflictions that has existed since beginningless time, how can one know that it has an end? How

Though the body is nourished for a long time with various enjoyments, it is not known to be of the nature of decay, and having heard that it has no merit, the wise are attached to the body for a long time, just like something that does not last long. The path of detachment, which is well cultivated, arises, and by this, will not all the attachments that have entered for a long time be exhausted? Therefore, in order to see that all external and internal things are empty in nature and without essence. It is possible to be liberated from the exhaustion of all the aggregates of afflictions such as desire. Furthermore, how can there be an end to the continuum of birth that has entered from beginningless time? Just as the stream of seeds that has entered from a long time and enters by passing from one to another does not have a beginning, just as the end is seen from burning firewood. Passing from one life to another, the birth with the seed of consciousness that has entered from beginningless time will also not arise because the causes and conditions are not complete. Karma is propelled by afflictions to take birth, and afflictions are also exhausted by being touched by the fire of wisdom. Therefore, karma without a companion cannot propel birth. Although Bodhisattvas do not have afflictions, they still take birth in samsara by the power of aspiration and compassion for the sake of benefiting others. From the Four Hundred Verses on Yoga Practice, the explanation of the eighth chapter, "Training Disciples." Explanation of the Ninth Chapter Second, explaining the path of liberation based on the ultimate truth, which includes: establishing emptiness, explaining the necessity of the treatise, and refuting the remaining arguments. The first part includes: refuting the nature of compounded phenomena, and refuting the nature of characteristics such as arising. The first part includes: refuting permanent entities, refuting what is to be observed, refuting sense organs and objects, and refuting clinging to self. The first part includes: general refutation and specific refutation. The first part is: In this way, the immediately preceding treatises have made Suchness suitable as a vessel of nectar, therefore, wanting to establish Suchness with the remaining treatises. For the time being, in order to explain that compounded phenomena have arising and ceasing and are therefore without essence

Commentary: Whatever is directed towards the purpose of a result is not true nature in this world. For it is said that the attachment of this prostitute is for the sake of a result, not for its own sake. All external and internal things do not arise singly, but only as a collection of various things. These also exist in a cause-and-effect relationship with each other, so all things arise for the sake of a result as they are, so they are not permanent, that is, they do not truly exist by nature. Therefore, only the Sugata, the Bhagavan, who possesses the body, speech, and mind of the non-learner, taught impermanence and emptiness. Therefore, he is called the Tathagata because he has gone and realized the nature of things as they are. Apart from that, there is no other Tathagata who can truly realize the suchness of things, because they have not truly realized the suchness through the gate of undeviatingly showing the suchness. Or, whatever the Bhagavan said is of the nature of arising is inevitably of the nature of cessation, because he taught that old age and death are caused by the condition of birth, so the result of birth is destruction. Therefore, everything arises for the sake of the destruction of the result, so it is not permanent. Or, if there are no objects for experiencing the three feelings of pleasure, pain, and equanimity, there will be no experiencing of the three feelings as a result. Therefore, all things arise for the sake of the three feelings of the result, so they are not permanent, that is, they do not exist by their own nature. Therefore, they are empty of nature. To show that this emptiness of nature of all things is not revealed by the words of other teachers, the word "only the Sugata" is added. Some say that things that arise for the sake of a result are not permanent, but those things that do not have both the elements of what is to be produced and what produces it, from space to the limit of mind, and those extremely subtle things that are producers but have nothing to be produced are permanent. Because the existence and permanence of these things have not been realized, the Tathagata does not see without error. In this regard, it should be observed how happiness and so on arise from their own causes and conditions.
