If it is said that it is reasonable to be angry because of being scolded, then, even if the scolder does not mention your physical defects, such as being blind, lame, etc. If others know these shortcomings, one should not be angry with the scolder because they spoke the truth. Moreover, if one has no faults and the scolder speaks untruthfully, how much more should one not be angry? Because speaking untruthfully is harmful. Therefore, under no circumstances should one be angry. If one hears unpleasant words from a lowly person, how can one not be angry because of this? From lowly people who always do evil and especially enjoy the suffering of others, merely hearing unpleasant words will inevitably cause them to be angry, and it cannot be prevented, even leading to beatings and killings. Therefore, the unpleasant words that arise from lowly people seem to be only insignificant faults, but they cause great harm such as killing and imprisonment, so one should be happy and not angry. If one scolds someone who has no faults, even if one punishes them, is there no fault? If the scolder is harmed in return, and for me, the harm I suffered before is eliminated, etc., even if there is not the slightest merit, your respect for anger, which has no merit, is merely a simple attachment and has no necessity whatsoever. Thirdly, which wise person would tolerate scolding, which has no merit? If, in situations where others speak badly, etc., patience that does not distinguish the occasion and does not cause harm can effortlessly obtain great merit such as having a beautiful appearance and being reborn in good realms. Then, who is as foolish as the scolder who obstructs the cause of Dharma? Because this wastes one's own merits. Therefore, the one who can tolerate anger is the wise one. Furthermore, anger usually arises in inharmonious situations, but especially, it does not arise towards those who have power because one cannot cause them harm. However, anger only arises in the weak. Therefore, why do you respect the anger that destroys attachment? One should not respect it; destroying attachment is like being brave towards women, which is what noble people should abandon. Which

If someone thinks that patience is despised because one is unable to retaliate even when harmed, and therefore one should be angry, know that patience is the antidote to rapidly increasing anger. In whatever situation, patience towards the object will give rise to loving-kindness meditation. Even if one practices loving-kindness meditation only for the time it takes to milk a cow, it will bring eight benefits to the practitioner. For example: The gods and humans are pleased, they also protect, the mind is happy and full of joy, poison and weapons cannot harm, things are accomplished without effort, one will be born in the Brahma world, even if one does not attain liberation from it, one will also obtain the eight benefits of loving-kindness. As stated in the Ratnavali. Furthermore, abandoning anger can also lead to the attainment of meditative states and formless states. Therefore, regarding patience, which is the source of the aforementioned virtues, if one abandons it out of fear of being considered unable to retaliate, that is only your own foolishness. Because anger brings about many disadvantages and destroys the aforementioned excellent virtues. If someone thinks that the humiliation of the weak by powerful people such as kings is unbearable, and therefore they should be punished, know that for sentient beings, enemies will appear one after another, without end. Therefore, which powerful person such as a king has ever completely destroyed all enemies, completely eliminated humiliation, and then gone to the next life? Were not the powerful kings of the past unable to completely eliminate humiliation, but instead caused wars and other evils due to being despised and rejected, and ultimately died? Therefore, I think it is better to endure contempt than to accumulate sins in order to conquer enemies. Because enduring humiliation will not lead to hell, while committing sins will lead to hell. Second, the common antidote is: If someone cannot apply specific antidotes to each affliction as described above, then they should counteract them by meditating on consciousness as being free from arising, ceasing, etc. For example, consciousness arises from causes and conditions, so it is a compounded phenomenon. Moreover, regarding arising,
