It is not appropriate to consider the arising of aversion as a matter of course. Indeed, things that by their nature become the cause of desire do not exist anywhere. Even those things that are considered clean, such as flowers, etc., become repulsive when they decay. Some yogis even see them without attachment. Therefore, it should be understood that whatever gives rise to detachment is impure. The second point is that the body is impure, just as it has been said before that it is impermanent and suffering. Next, it will be shown that it is selfless, and these are the four inversions. Someone might ask, do these four exist in one thing? Whatever is compounded and arises in dependence is impermanent because it is momentary. Whatever is impermanent is impure because it causes aversion. Whatever is impure is suffering because it causes harm. Whatever is suffering is also selfless because it is not autonomous. Therefore, in short, these four inversions exist in one contaminated thing. Even though these exist, foolish and inverted people do not completely cut them off, but instead, they completely imagine things to be the opposite. Therefore, wise people should truly recognize the impermanence and other characteristics of things and make their minds fully engaged in realizing the state of no self-nature. In the Four Hundred Treatise, the explanation of the method of refuting the perception of purity, which is the commentary on the third chapter. Explanation of Chapter Four Fourth, regarding the method of abandoning the clinging to self, there are two parts: a brief explanation and a determination through debate. First, the antidote to uprooting the seeds of clinging to self will be explained below by showing the way of the selflessness of phenomena. Here, the antidote to suppressing manifestation is mainly shown. Since the pride of self and mine is particularly present in kings, it is mainly from the perspective of kings that the explanation is given by refuting these two in sequence. Among them, the self that arises from the completely fabricated discrimination of praising oneself as "I am the ruler".

Or clinging to the self, and possessing things by thinking, "These places are mine," the arrogance of "I" and "mine" arising from this, how could it arise for a noble one who properly contemplates in this cycle of existence? It simply won't. Because if some individuals had uncommon dominion over certain places in all lifetimes, it would be reasonable to be arrogant and say, "I am the lord of this place." But this is impossible for sentient beings in samsara, because for all embodied beings, all objects such as form are produced by common karma, are the same, and are common. Second, refuting arrogance of power, refuting arrogance of lineage. First, in two parts: the main point and incidentally refuting the practice of sin. First: If the king should be arrogant because he has power over all affairs of the world, then, when the people of the first kalpa divided the fields and possessed them after the uncultivated rice ripened, when they stole from each other, many people contributed one-sixth of their grain and appointed a strong man as a protector. Because the work of protection made the people happy, he was called a king. From then on, the kings maintained the people with one-sixth of the reward, so what is there for you, king, to be arrogant about? Because you are a common servant of the people who contribute one-sixth of the grain as a reward. It is also unreasonable to be arrogant to say that you have power over all affairs, because whoever, from where, does what, and where he does it, that is, changes in actions, etc., are dominated, relying on the dominator appointed by the people of the world. For example, when a master entrusts certain affairs to a servant, it is unreasonable for the servant to think that this matter depends on me and therefore be arrogant towards the master. If the king should be arrogant because he is the master, the one who gives food and wealth to others, then, those who are supported by the king, through their own service, receive the salary, etc., which they will surely obtain, and think of the master as the giver, and despise themselves.
