Moreover, they become attached and feel jealous when they see others involved. Similarly, some men are attached to certain women and become jealous of certain men for the sake of women, which is the same. Because there is jealousy, there is no happiness. If it is said that although a woman's body is unclean, happiness arises from it, so one should be attached, it is like this: when something unclean is trampled on by feet, its nature is obscured by darkness and cannot be seen, so ignorance arises, and foul odor causes harm, so anger should arise. In no case should desire arise. Similarly, a woman's body is unclean, and because its nature is covered by external adornments such as ornaments, it is not known, so ignorance arises, and the foul odor itself should cause anger. In no case should desire arise, because its nature is unclean. Third, a woman's body is indeed unclean, but even so, it is not known as flawed in the world, so it should not be denigrated. As it is said: 'Brahmins are cleaner than others, and women are cleaner than all.' If it is said that this is why it is famous. The flaws of a woman's body are not known in the world, only because people have not recognized its nature. If the vessel contaminated by the filth produced from the body is also very disgusting, then which sane person would not consider the reason for the body from which filth is constantly produced? Therefore, it should not be said that a woman's body should not be denigrated. If it is said that a woman's body has clean parts, because men will be attached to its cleanliness. All clean things such as flowers, fragrances, clothes, and ornaments become unclean when they come into contact with the body. Therefore, which wise person would say that the body, which causes all clean things to eventually become unclean when they come into contact with it, has clean parts? No one would say that. Second, if the body has no clean parts, one would not be proud of it, but because of its touch, there are clean parts. What is being born is initially in the mother's womb, between the stomach and intestines, in the place of feces and

Residing in the intestines and dwelling on the essence of feces, like an impure worm that cannot survive without it, due to the control of ignorance, one merely generates arrogance, thinking, "I am pure." If it is said that because one abandons the impurity of the body through bathing and the like, therefore the body is pure, then by no means of incense offerings, tormas, and bathing can the inner core of the body be purified and cleansed. Why then strive to purify the very nature of the impure body? Since you strive to purify the impure nature of the inner body, why not strive to purify the external impurities arising from the body as well; one should also strive for that. If it is said that since that is the nature of impurity, it cannot be purified, then it is the same for the inner body. If it is said that even though a woman's body is full of urine, upright ascetics do not abandon it, so it should not be abandoned, then their not abandoning a woman full of urine is because both they and she are alike in being full of urine. Just as if lepers existed only among a few uncommon people, similarly, if being full of urine were not the same for everyone but existed only among a few, then just as lepers are abandoned by those without leprosy, so too should those full of urine be abandoned by all other people. But since being full of urine is the same for everyone, who would abandon whom? If it is said that although a woman's body has foul odors and other impurities, they can be eliminated by applying fragrances and the like, then it is like some people who have had their noses cut off and limbs damaged, who, by merely attaching an illusion of a nose, pretend to be whole and rejoice. Similarly, children who are by nature greedy for desire, because they do not see the nature of the body, become attached to externally adorned impurities such as flowers and fragrances, and through those, they think and desire that their own and others' bodies are pure. If it is said that flowers and fragrances and the like will certainly become the cause of desire, because they generate desire in men, then in the body where noble arhats arise free from desire, that should not be called naturally pure, because naturally pure
