are. In order, because they are the fruit thrown by the previous extreme and the fruit of present accomplishment, it can be inferred that there is birth in the previous extreme. Ignorance and the other three, and craving and the other three, in order, because they are the cause of throwing the birth of the future extreme and accomplishing it in the present, it can be inferred that there is birth in the future extreme. Just as the twelve limbs that exist in this life, how the cause and effect of the previous and future extremes are established, so too should the twelve limbs of dependent origination of the previous and future extremes be calculated in the same way. In this way, like a fire wheel, one will be able to understand well the principle of the twelve limbs of existence revolving without beginning or end. As the teacher himself said, "From the three, two arise, from the two, seven arise, and from the seven, three arise. That wheel of existence revolves again and again." That's how it is. Therefore, contemplating the dependent origination with the characteristics mentioned above, in order to show the seeing of the suchness of the Dharma, it is said, "This dependent origination is the treasure of the Victorious One's speech, a profound Dharma. Whoever sees this with right view, sees the Buddha's supreme wisdom." Thus it is said. Thus, the dependent origination mentioned above is the treasure of the Victorious One's speech, because it is the meaning of the heart essence of all the scriptures. It is profound because it is free from self, other, both, and without cause, and therefore difficult for others to realize. Therefore, whoever sees this dependent origination in the correct way, he sees the Buddha's suchness, the supreme wisdom, because the Buddha is distinguished by the Dharmakaya and is no different from the reality of dependent origination. As it is said in the Salu Green Tree Sutra, "Whoever knows dependent origination knows the Dharma. Whoever knows the Dharma knows the Tathagata." Just like that. Fourth, cultivating the eightfold noble path: Thus, one who is skilled in dependent origination,

To show that the path that focuses on the four noble truths, such as suffering, will arise, it is said: Right view, right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness, right concentration, and right action, and right thought are the eight limbs of the path. This is cultivated for the sake of peace. It is said that, due to the power of combination in the root text, the order is shown to be confused. But if explained in order, right view is the wisdom that fully examines the meaning realized on the path of seeing; right thought is the speech that arises from showing others as one has realized; right speech is the aspect of speech that touches on showing what is true as it is, which is aroused by thought; right action is the aspect of body and speech that abandons what is not to be done; right livelihood is the livelihood of food, clothing, etc., that is in accordance with the Dharma; right effort is the effort to cultivate the path; right mindfulness is not forgetting the object of the path; and right concentration is the one-pointed abiding on that object. These eight are called the eight limbs of the path because they are parts and retinues of the noble path in the stage of the path of cultivation. Among them, right view is the limb of complete discernment, because it ascertains the suchness of how it is experienced in equipoise. Thought is the limb of making others understand, because it arises from speech after having fully realized it. The three, right speech and so on, are the limbs of making others believe. Among them, right speech, in accordance with realization, establishes the words of questioning and teaching, and the yogi is known to have a pure view. Right action, with the perfection of conduct such as going and returning, is known to have pure discipline. Right livelihood, by seeking religious robes and so on as they appear, makes one believe that one's livelihood is pure. Effort is the limb of purifying the obscurations of affliction, because it initiates diligence and abandons all remaining secondary afflictions. Mindfulness is the limb of purifying the obscurations of near afflictions, because it does not forget the signs of right abiding, etc., and thus makes the near
