It is to prevent the occurrence of afflictions such as dullness and agitation. Samadhi is a limb that purifies the obscurations of special qualities, because it actualizes qualities such as clairvoyance. These are also stated in the *Madhyāntavibhāga*: 'Completely discriminating, understanding, and the other three cause belief; the eight limbs of the path are the antidotes to opposing factors.' As it is said. Therefore, these are to be meditated upon in order to attain peaceful nirvana. Fifth, the object of the truth of the path, showing the truth of the noble ones, as it is said: 'This birth is suffering, craving is called, that is its vast origin, this cessation is liberation, to attain that is the noble path of eight limbs.' As it is said, this nature of the five aggregates of clinging, which is birth, is suffering, as stated in the sutra: 'In short, the five aggregates of clinging are suffering.' As it is said. The craving that clings to the contaminated aggregates is the origin of this suffering, as stated in the sutra: 'What is the noble truth of the origin of suffering? Craving is also of the nature of origin, with joyful desire, and the state of being manifestly joyful in it.' As it is said. It is the cause of all births in existence, therefore it is vast. The cessation of all these sufferings is the truth of cessation, that is liberation itself, and the path to attain it is the noble path of eight limbs, which are those just mentioned. In order to be combined with the path of attaining nirvana. Therefore, in order to see the four noble truths, always strive diligently. As it is said, in order to know what should be known, abandon what should be abandoned, actualize what should be actualized, and cultivate what should be cultivated. The four truths are as stated above, therefore, you should also always strive diligently to cultivate the path in order to see the suchness of those four noble truths. These four abide as such in conventional truth, therefore they are called noble truths, just as correct terms are called the terms of the noble ones. Or, these are called noble truths because they are seen as such by the noble ones.
