Sixth, one should not be discouraged because the realization of truth depends on the efforts of practitioners: How can we householders who dwell in the kingdom realize the truth? (The sutra says:) "Even householders who have glory in their laps can cross the river of afflictions with wisdom." This means that whoever has the glory of the kingdom in his lap, or the glory of perfect sons, etc., such as King Embodying Form, can also realize the truth with correct wisdom, thereby crossing the river of afflictions. King, you should do the same. The noble path is to be accomplished by the efforts of practitioners. To illustrate this, (the sutra says:) "Those who have realized the Dharma did not fall from the sky like crops, nor did they emerge from the ground like plants; they were initially ordinary beings bound by afflictions." This means that those noble ones who have realized the Dharma of the Four Noble Truths were not initially noble ones, nor did they fall from the sky, or emerge from the ground like crops. They were initially ordinary beings bound by afflictions, controlled by afflictions, and later, relying on the guidance of virtuous friends, they cultivated the path and became noble ones. Therefore, you should also strive to cultivate the path without discouragement. Seventh, briefly giving advice: There is no need to say much to the fearless, this beneficial advice is the most important. You should tame your mind, because the Blessed One said that the mind is the root of the Dharma. (The sutra says:) "There is no need to say much to the fearless, this beneficial advice is the most important. You should tame your mind, because the Blessed One said that the mind is the root of the Dharma." This means that because he was not intimidated by the debates of outsiders, the king is called fearless. There is no need to say too much, this is the essence of beneficial advice for both temporary and ultimate benefit, which is the most important or precious: You should tame your mind by turning your mind from unwholesome to wholesome. If you do so, all three doors of body, speech, and mind will become pure. The Blessed One said that the world is led by the mind, and is completely led by the mind. "The mind is the only Dharma, and all Dharmas follow the mind." And, the mind

Subduing is good, and a subdued mind brings happiness. Therefore, the mind is said to be the root of the Dharma. As said before, if all of that is accomplished, not only will one be well established in the Buddha's teachings, but even accomplishing one part will become meaningful. To illustrate this, these teachings were given to you. Even a fully devoted monk finds it difficult to do. What need is there to mention a householder distracted by many affairs? However, from these teachings, whichever one practices, one can abandon faults, rely on virtues, and become accustomed to them, thereby making life meaningful. If you do so, you will abide in the Buddha's teachings and gradually attain other virtues as well. Second, advising to accomplish the result of the Great Vehicle path, which is divided into two parts. First, the actions of the path are: Having satisfied the mind by teaching the Dharma in this way, wishing to lead him onto the path of the Great Vehicle, therefore: Rejoicing in all the virtues of all beings, and also the three ways in which you have practiced well, dedicating them entirely to attain Buddhahood, then, with this accumulation of merit, may you, in countless lifetimes, become the lord of yoga in all the worlds of gods and humans, and through the conduct of the noble Avalokiteśvara, lead many miserable beings, from birth, eliminate aging, desire, and hatred, and in the Buddha-field, like the Blessed One Amitābha, become the protector of the world, with immeasurable life. Thus it is said. Just as the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas rejoice in all the contaminated and uncontaminated virtues of all ordinary beings and noble ones, so do I rejoice. By verbally reciting "I also rejoice," may I, through this virtue, become the protector of beings without protectors, the refuge of beings without refuge. With one's body, speech, and mind,
