就像（经文里）所说的那样：进入到没有太阳和月亮照耀的，无边黑暗之中。像这样，生命是无常的，会变成各种各样高低不同的状态，最终会走向死亡。所以，你应该点燃由布施、持戒和禅修所产生的，或者由身、语、意自性所产生的这三种福德，它们能驱散恶趣的黑暗，巨大的黑暗的灯火。如果缺少福德之光，就会孤身一人，没有朋友，进入到太阳和月亮的光芒无法照耀，无法摧毁的三恶趣的无边黑暗之中。进入到那样的黑暗中，唯一能成为朋友和救护，如同灯火之光的，就只有清净的善业。正如《广大游戏经》中所说：行善之业，紧随其后，除了跟随善业而去，在一切有为法中，没有什么是朋友，没有救护，没有亲友，也没有眷属。第七，感受五道轮回的痛苦，五种过患中的第一种是地狱的痛苦。首先，为了总体展示地狱的数量，（经文说）众生造作恶业者，将恒常于众生地狱中感受痛苦，如复活地狱、黑绳地狱、众合地狱、嚎叫地狱、大嚎叫地狱、热地狱、极热地狱、无间地狱等等。也就是说，众生以身语意三门造作恶业，他们将恒常在复活地狱、黑绳地狱、众合地狱、嚎叫地狱、大嚎叫地狱、热地狱、极热地狱、无间地狱以及其他地狱，包括近边地狱和寒冷地狱中，感受痛苦。其中，复活地狱是这样的：生于该处的众生，彼此相见时，因恐惧而拾起的任何东西都会变成锋利的武器。当他们互相投掷，肢体被斩断，昏厥倒地时，天空中会传来声音说：你们都复活吧！于是他们又复活，像之前一样互相残杀，并在那基础上遭受更长时间的痛苦。这样的众生就被称为复活地狱的众生。在黑绳地狱中出生的众生，狱卒会在他们的身体上画出四条、八条等等黑色的线

As it is said (in the scriptures): "Entering into the endless darkness where the sun and moon do not shine." Thus, life is impermanent and will transform into various states of high and low, eventually leading to death. Therefore, you should kindle the light of merit, which arises from generosity, discipline, and meditation, or from the nature of body, speech, and mind, which dispels the darkness of the lower realms, the great darkness. If the light of merit is lacking, one will be alone, without friends, entering into the boundless darkness of the three lower realms, where the light of the sun and moon cannot penetrate and cannot be destroyed. When entering such darkness, the only thing that can become a friend and refuge, like the light of a lamp, is pure virtue. As it is said in the *Extensive Play Sutra*: "The deeds of virtue follow closely behind; except for following virtuous deeds, among all conditioned phenomena, there are no friends, no refuge, no relatives, and no retinue." Seventh, experiencing the suffering of the five destinies of cyclic existence, the first of the five faults is the suffering of the hells. First, to generally show the number of hells, (the scripture says) "Sentient beings who commit evil deeds will constantly experience suffering in the hells, such as the Reviving Hell, the Black Line Hell, the Crushing Hell, the Crying Hell, the Great Crying Hell, the Hot Hell, the Very Hot Hell, the Uninterrupted Hell, and so on." That is to say, sentient beings who commit evil deeds with their body, speech, and mind will constantly experience suffering in the Reviving Hell, the Black Line Hell, the Crushing Hell, the Crying Hell, the Great Crying Hell, the Hot Hell, the Very Hot Hell, the Uninterrupted Hell, and other hells, including the neighboring hells and the cold hells. Among them, the Reviving Hell is like this: when the sentient beings born there see each other, out of fear, whatever they pick up turns into sharp weapons. When they throw them at each other, their limbs are cut off, and they faint and fall to the ground, a voice will come from the sky saying: "May you all be revived!" Then they are revived and kill each other as before, and on that basis, they suffer for a longer time. Such sentient beings are called the sentient beings of the Reviving Hell. In the Black Line Hell, the hell guards draw four, eight, or more black lines on the bodies of the sentient beings born there.

又，用各种兵器刺戳和砍杀，从那里要长期感受痛苦，此有情名为黑绳地狱。聚集摧坏是：狱卒把有情们聚集到一起，放入像岩羊和绵羊的头一样的器物中挤压。又聚集是：放入铁制的机器中像榨甘蔗一样挤压，所有孔隙都流出血。又聚集是：降下铁的冰雹捶打，到处都是地狱，从那里要长期感受痛苦。此有情名为聚集摧坏地狱。号叫地狱是：有情寻找住处而去，被放入铁屋中，进入后点火，燃烧，到处都剧烈燃烧而被焚烧，他们在那里哭号发出悲惨的声音，从那里要长期感受痛苦。此有情名为号叫地狱。大号叫地狱是：要知道住在号叫地狱中所说的房屋那样的双重房屋中。炎热地狱是：狱卒们把那些有情放入铁锅中用沸腾的开水煮，在燃烧的铁锅中煎炒，在燃烧的铁地上用燃烧的锤子捶打，用燃烧的铁串从臀部穿到头顶变成灰烬，毛孔和所有孔隙都燃烧着火，从那里要长期感受痛苦。此有情名为炎热地狱。极热地狱是：在先前的痛苦上，用三尖的铁串刺穿，从头顶和双肩拔出，所有孔隙都燃烧着火，用燃烧的铁板缠绕身体，在燃烧的铁地上用铁钉钉住等等，从那里要长期感受痛苦。此有情名为极热地狱。无间地狱是：从四方来的火堆，在那有情的身上变成一个火焰，除了发出哀嚎之外，有情和火焰变得无法区分。感受此痛苦没有间断和边

Furthermore, they stab and cut with various weapons, and from that place, they will experience suffering for a long time. This sentient being is called the Black Line Hell. The Compressing and Crushing Hell is where the hell guardians gather sentient beings together and squeeze them in devices shaped like the heads of wild goats and sheep. Another gathering is where they are put into iron machines and squeezed like sugarcane, with blood flowing from every pore. Another gathering is where they are beaten by a rain of iron hailstones, making the whole place a hell, and from there, they will experience suffering for a long time. This sentient being is called the Compressing and Crushing Hell. The Crying Hell is where sentient beings search for a place to stay and are put into iron houses. Once inside, fire is set, and they are burned as it blazes and intensely burns everywhere. They cry and utter miserable sounds there, and from there, they will experience suffering for a long time. This sentient being is called the Crying Hell. The Great Crying Hell is to be understood as residing in a double house like the one described in the Crying Hell. The Hot Hell is where the hell guardians boil those sentient beings in iron pots with blazing boiling water, fry them in burning iron pans, beat them on burning iron ground with burning hammers, and pierce them with burning iron skewers from their buttocks to the crown of their heads until they turn to ashes, with fire blazing from every pore and opening. From there, they will experience suffering for a long time. This sentient being is called the Hot Hell. The Very Hot Hell is where, on top of the previous suffering, they are pierced with three-pronged iron skewers, pulled out from the crown of the head and both shoulders, with fire blazing from every pore, their bodies wrapped in burning iron sheets, nailed to the burning iron ground with iron nails, and so on. From there, they will experience suffering for a long time. This sentient being is called the Very Hot Hell. The Uninterrupted Hell is where piles of fire come from the four directions and turn into a single flame on the body of that sentient being. Except for uttering cries of anguish, the sentient being and the flame become indistinguishable. Experiencing this suffering has no interruption or end.
