Just as a wife who touches the heart and delights with special acts of respect and service, so too should there be a wife who touches the heart of her husband. Just as a mother wishes to benefit her children by wanting them to be free from the suffering of body and mind, so too should there be a wife who wishes to benefit her husband. Just as a servant girl is controlled because she is possessed by joy, so too are those wives who are controlled by their husbands the cause of the lineage not declining. Therefore, they should be revered or served like the gods of the lineage. Third, for both renunciates and householders, there are three instructions on practicing the Dharma of higher realms and definite goodness: practicing the common Dharma, especially practicing the Dharma of definite goodness, and making the attainment of that basis meaningful. The first has six aspects. First, knowing the measure of food: Now, in order to be combined with samadhi, the practice of contemplation is taught. There are two Dharmas cherished for contemplation: knowing the measure of food and striving not to sleep. Among them, regarding knowing the measure of food, it is said: "Food is like medicine, treat it with wisdom, consume it without greed or hatred, not for the sake of fatness, not for the sake of pride, not for the sake of strength, but only for the sake of maintaining the body." This means that eating food is like treating medicine, for the medicine caused by illness, do not take too much or too little, taking the right amount is beneficial. Similarly, for the illness of hunger, food should not be too much or too little, but with knowing the measure of food, consume it without the motivation of greed or hatred. The way to consume it in this way is, do not cause the body to become fat for the sake of happiness and afflictions that are the cause of physical and verbal indulgence, do not harm enemies in order to increase physical strength, do not make limbs and organs develop, but eat only so that the body can be the basis for practicing virtue. Among them, eating for the sake of fatness and strength is caused by greed. Eating for the sake of pride is caused by hatred. Second, the practice of not sleeping in the upper and lower parts of the night: The master who possesses reason, repeats all the time during the day and the upper and lower parts of the night, even if he sleeps, he will not become without results, possessing mindfulness and

One should sleep between those. It is said that the possessor of reason, with virtuous activities, recites the upper and lower parts of the sessions, having divided the entire day and night into three parts. Having passed, between those upper and lower parts, one should sleep during the middle session. Even when sleeping, it is fruitful. In order to prevent it from becoming meaningless, one should lie down for a short while, strengthen the body and mind, and quickly get up and do good deeds. One should sleep with such mindfulness, awareness, and alertness. By doing so, even sleep becomes virtuous due to the power of intention. Therefore, sleep also becomes meaningful. As the Bhagavan also said: In the first session of that night, one completely purifies the mind from the dharmas that obscure it by walking and sitting. Having completely purified it, in the middle session, one washes the feet outside the monastery, enters the monastery, lies down on the right side, places one foot on top of the other, and lies down in the lion's posture with mindfulness and awareness. In the last session, one quickly gets up and purifies the mind from the dharmas that obscure it by walking and sitting. It is like that which was said. Third, meditating on the four immeasurables: Having made the body and mind workable in that way, one should meditate on the four immeasurables, which are the preliminaries of meditation. To show this, it is said: Loving-kindness, compassion, joy, and equanimity, one should always meditate correctly. Even if one has not attained the higher states, one will still obtain the bliss of the Brahma realm. It is said that, focusing on all sentient beings, loving-kindness that desires happiness, compassion that desires freedom from suffering, joy that is happy with happiness, and equanimity that is equal without attachment or aversion, these four, because the object of focus is immeasurable sentient beings, and the meditator generates immeasurable merit, therefore, you should meditate correctly. These also have three aspects due to the difference in the object of focus: focusing on sentient beings, focusing on dharmas, and without focus. The first is: taking sentient beings as truly existing apart from the aggregates, such sentient beings
