One should associate with them for a long time and get to know them. To meditate on proper attention is to thoroughly examine all phenomena, which are interdependent arising, with the wisdom of hearing and thinking, free from all extremes of elaboration, and to repeatedly familiarize oneself with that meaning. As it says in the "Sixty Stanzas on Reasoning": "Those who are beyond and do not abide in the distinctions of existence and non-existence, meditate on the meaning of dependent origination, which is profound and without object." Therefore, merely stopping conceptual thoughts that lack the wisdom to analyze the reasoning of dependent origination, and both meditations that are bound by views that cling to any extreme such as existence or non-existence, are not correct meditations. As mentioned before, meditation that is supported by the wisdom of analyzing the meaning of dependent origination is proper attention, and it is meditating on the Perfection of Wisdom. Second, as a side note, praise of wisdom and ethics. Now, in order to generate respect for the wisdom that has a correct object as just mentioned, I will declare praise for it. It is said: "Even those with good lineage, form, and learning, without wisdom and discipline, are not worthy of respect. Therefore, whoever possesses these two qualities, even if lacking others, should be honored." This means that those who have a noble lineage, a beautiful form, and are learned in many other scriptures, if they lack the two qualities of wisdom that understands reality and discipline that abandons immoral behavior, are not worthy of respect and reverence, because they do not possess the qualities of a noble person. Therefore, whoever possesses these two qualities of wisdom and discipline, even if they lack other qualities such as lineage and form, should be offered to and respected, because they possess the qualities of a noble person. Among them, because they have discipline, they do not engage in non-virtue; because they have correct wisdom, they engage in virtue. Not engaging in the non-virtuous actions of non-saints, but engaging in the virtuous actions of saints, is because they have entered the ranks of saints. Third, one should turn away from the eight worldly concerns. Abiding in the eight worldly concerns, the path of the noble ones cannot arise.

Because there is not, in order to make it consistent with the noble path, in order to show that one should maintain equanimity towards the eight worldly dharmas. Worldly wise, gain and no gain, pleasure and displeasure, pleasant and unpleasant, praise and blame, these eight worldly dharmas, do not let them become the object of my mind, please maintain equanimity. Thus it is said. Because of skillfully knowing the good customs of the world, the king is called the worldly wise. Obtaining and not obtaining enjoyment, experiencing the comfort of pleasure, experiencing the pain of displeasure, obvious pleasantness and unpleasantness, praising in front and slandering behind, etc., the mind becomes happy and unhappy, this is the same as worldly people, so it is called the eight worldly dharmas. In order for you to transcend the world, do not let these become the object of my mind's happiness and unhappiness, please maintain equanimity. Do not be unhappy because of not obtaining, etc., and do not be happy because of obtaining, etc. The mind's pleasure and displeasure, etc., that are attached to obtaining, etc., are worldly dharmas, not obtaining, etc., because the noble ones also possess them. Therefore, it is established as the eight worldly dharmas because of relying on the object. Even if one commits sins for the sake of the guru and brahmins, etc., it will not become non-dharma, because worldly people consider things that are not dharma to be dharma. In order to prevent it, you should not commit sins for the sake of brahmins, monks, gods, as well as guests, parents, children, and consorts, and retinues, because there is no one who can share the retribution of hell. Thus it is said. Do not commit sins for the sake of other sentient beings from brahmins to retinues, because the result of sins will ripen in hell, and one must bear it alone, there is no share of suffering that brahmins, etc., can share and bear. If the retribution of sins is unpleasant, why does it not ripen immediately? There are three types of karma, namely, experiencing in this life, experiencing in the next life, and experiencing many times.
