There are four kinds. To show that you should abide in excellent conduct, it says: From light to the end of light, from darkness to the end of darkness, from light to the infinite end, from darkness to the end of light, there are four kinds of people, be the first among them. The sutra says: Going from light to light, etc., it speaks of four kinds of people. Thus, having been born among gods and powerful people, and being born again in that state, is the end of going from light to light. Having been born among the evil destinies or those without power, and being born again in that state, is the end of going from darkness to darkness. Having been born among gods and powerful people, and then being born among the three evil destinies and those without power, is the end of going from light to darkness. Having been born among the three evil destinies and those without power, and then being born among gods and powerful people, is going from darkness to the end of light, there are four kinds. Among them, be the first to go from light to light. Seventh, to know the characteristics of who to associate with. Householders must associate with many beings, so to show that one should help them as much as possible, it says: People are like mangoes, unripe, like ripe, ripe like unripe, unripe appearing unripe, ripe appearing ripe, understand it to be so. It is said that people are like mangoes, having four aspects, so one should know their characteristics and strive to adopt or reject them accordingly. Mangoes have four aspects: some are unripe inside but appear ripe outside; some are ripe inside but appear unripe outside; some are unripe inside and appear unripe outside; and some are ripe inside and appear ripe outside. Similarly, there are four kinds of people: the first is, the thought is deficient but the action is perfect. The second is, the opposite of that. The third is, both thought and action are deficient. The fourth is, both thought and action are perfect. Eighth, abandoning attachment to other people's households is divided into two, the first is the method of suppression, divided into three, the first is to transform perceptions and view it as impure:

Because adultery is easy to occur for householders and has great faults, in order to avoid this: One should not look at other people's wives, even if one sees them, if they are of similar age, one should generate the thought of them as mothers, daughters, or sisters; if one generates attachment, one should truly contemplate their impurity. Thus it is said. In the sutra it says: How should a monk treat women? The Blessed One replied: By not looking. Thus it is said. Therefore, one should not look at other people's wives in the first place, and if one sees them, one should regard the elderly as mothers, the young as daughters, and those of the same age as sisters, according to their age. Even if one thinks like this, if one still generates attachment, one should truly contemplate their foul smell, the overflowing of the nine orifices, and other impure aspects that will be discussed below. Secondly, guarding one's mind and closing the doors of the senses: Even if one has already contemplated impurity, if one still thinks of it as pure, one should guard one's mind. To illustrate this: The wavering mind is like hearing, like a child, like a treasure, like protecting one's life, like poison, a weapon, an enemy, and fire, one should generate aversion to the pleasure of desire. Thus it is said. The mind that does not stay in one place for even a moment, but always wavers towards external objects, should be guarded from external objects that always generate afflictions. How should one guard it? Just like guarding against losing what one has heard, or like treating a beloved child, or like treating a precious treasure, or like treating one's precious life. Not only that, but one should also generate aversion to the pleasure of desire. Like what? Just like one should generate aversion to a venomous snake because of its ferocity, to poison because it can kill, to a weapon because it can bring suffering, to an enemy because it can obstruct happiness, and to fire because it can burn. Why should one generate aversion to the pleasure of desire, to those pleasant experiences, like one would to venomous things? Because desires bring about decay. The Victorious One used the example of the Kimpa fruit to illustrate this. One should abandon these. This means that desires bring pleasure when they are enjoyed, but ultimately they lead to decay, so the wise
