Since worldly people do not name things as true, it is only conventional truth, not true truth. Those objects of knowledge that are not deceived by the senses are also only conventional truth for the noble ones, not true truth, because they are understood as being like illusions, so there is no attachment to them as being true. Therefore, conventional truth is only established in relation to each individual ordinary person, and the noble ones do not possess conventional truth, this should be understood. Then, why did the Tathagata establish conventional truth as it is known in the world? As it is said: Just as barbarians cannot grasp with a foreign language, so too, apart from worldly people, no one can grasp the world. Therefore, as a means of leading the world into suchness, the Tathagata made a commitment and established things in the eyes of the world, according to how it is known in the world, not because he himself saw conventional truth and then taught it, because as long as samsara exists, the Tathagatas who abide in the Dharmakaya do not see any dharma. Therefore, in the scriptures of the Eastern School, it is said extensively: If the guides of the world do not conform to the world, then what is the nature of the Buddha, and no one will know the Buddha. For those with afflictions, the afflicted are: pride in self, ignorance of self, and attachment to self, and so on. For the noble ones who are still learning and have not abandoned ignorance, in the post-attainment state, just as a painter mistakes a yaksha for a picture he himself has drawn, sometimes there will be slight signs of clinging to the appearance of things, but they quickly disappear like drawing on water. For the noble Arhats who have abandoned all afflictive ignorance, and for the Bodhisattvas who abide on the irreversible ground, in all circumstances there will be no signs of clinging to the appearance of things, and when using terminology, they make establishments according to how it is known in the world, for the purpose of guiding others, this should be understood. Here, the teacher Yeshe Nyingpo says: Whatever appears, this itself is

What is called "conventional" refers to the knowledge that is commonly apparent and known from the wise to children, and is regarded as the conventional truth. Why is it called the conventional truth? Because: Whatever or to whomever, that which obscures reality is conventional. Therefore, all this is true, but not true in the ultimate sense. This means that any mind, or any mind that possesses, that which obscures reality, namely the mind and mental factors included in the unreal imputation, are conventional. Because it posits all this as true, it is called the conventional truth. The conventional is also divided into two types: the real conventional and the unreal conventional truth. The first refers to that which is free from the fabrication of real arising and ceasing, etc., by conceptual thought, arises dependent on causes and conditions, and is not deceptive in functioning as it appears. The second refers to that which is fabricated by conceptual thought on real arising and ceasing, etc., and has the characteristic of the general nature of sound objects. As it is said in the scripture: That which is devoid of the meaning of imputation, And arises dependent only on reality, Know that to be the real conventional, The unreal is the completely imputed. Furthermore, the appearance of non-conceptual consciousness can also be divided into two types: the real and the false conventional. The first refers to the appearance of consciousness that is not defiled by the cause of error, such as fire and water, etc., which can function as they appear. The second refers to the appearance of consciousness that is confused, such as illusions, dreams, and mirages, etc., which cannot function as they appear. As it is said in the scripture: Although the appearances are similar, in terms of function, Due to the ability and inability, A distinction is made between the real and the unreal, Of the conventional. According to the view of this teacher, it seems that he believes that these forms, etc., which are considered to be the real conventional, do not depend on the imputation of the mind, but generate arising and ceasing by their own power, and are not deceptive in functioning. If this is the case, then like the proponents of substantialism, it would be admitting that dependent origination is self-established. Therefore, the term "conventional" would merely become a name, and in reality, it would become an admission of the ultimate truth. If it is said that because they are not real when analyzed by reason, they are conventional, then...
