If it is said to be because of samsara. The second has two parts: First, showing that one cannot abandon the extremes of permanence and annihilation. If it is said that the continuum of the arising and ceasing of cause and effect is existence, then because there is no arising when ceasing, the cause becomes annihilation. If it is said that the continuum of the arising of the effect and the ceasing of the cause is existence, then the moment of the cause that is connected with ceasing also does not arise, so the continuum becomes annihilation. Why? Does this fault not also befall you? This fault befalls whoever accepts things, but I do not accept even a little of the nature of things, because all dharmas are unborn. Earlier it was said, "That which arises in dependence, is temporarily neither the same nor different from it, therefore it is neither permanent nor annihilated." There too, I showed that all things are without self-nature by this reasoning. If it were not so, and things existed by their own nature, then how would the seed and sprout not become other? Therefore, this fault does not harm me. Why does what existed before become non-existent later, becoming the fault of annihilation? Furthermore, if one accepts that things exist, not only does it become the fault of annihilation, but it also becomes the fault of permanence, like this: If things have self-nature, they should not change into non-existence. If things exist by their own nature, then they should not later become non-existent, because self-nature does not change. Therefore, the view of permanence is always present. Furthermore, there will be annihilation at the time of nirvana, because the continuum of existence is completely pacified. If one abandons the views of permanence and annihilation by the continuation of the arising and ceasing of cause and effect, even then, when that continuum does not arise, that is, at the time of nirvana, it will definitely become the view of annihilation, because the continuum of existence of the arising and ceasing of cause and effect is completely pacified. The Blessed One said to abandon all views of annihilation. Second, arising and ceasing should not be samsara. Furthermore, because the continuum of the arising and ceasing of cause and effect is existence. Saying this is also unreasonable, how so? Here, the last existence is...

It is of the nature of decay. The first is of the nature of taking rebirth. Among them, the last existence that is in the process of ceasing is the cause, and the first existence that has the nature of birth is the fruit. These two existences are named samsara. Here, it needs to be examined what causes the continuity of cause and effect to become samsara? The first existence, which has the nature of taking rebirth, exists as the nature of the fruit, then, is it the last existence, which has the nature of decline, has it ceased? Or has it not ceased? Or is it born while it is ceasing? In any case, it is unreasonable. If the last ceases, then the first existence will not arise. If the last does not cease, then the first existence will not arise. If it is thought that when the last existence ceases, the first existence is born, it is also unreasonable, because it would lead to no cause, and sprouts could also grow from rotten seeds. When the last existence does not cease, the first existence cannot arise either, if it arises, it would lead to no cause, one sentient being has two natures, the appearance of sentient beings that did not exist before, the former is constant, and sprouts can also grow from seeds that have not rotted, these are all unreasonable. Now it is explained why the first existence is unreasonable when the last existence is ceasing. If the last is ceasing, the first will be born, the one that is ceasing is one, and the one that is being born is another. If the existence that is ceasing, from now on, the first existence that is being born will be born, because both the one that is being born and the one that is ceasing are present, so the one that is ceasing is one existence, and the one that is being born is another existence, if two existences arise at the same time, then it is also unreasonable for one sentient being to have two existences at the same time. Therefore, if ceasing and being born cannot exist at the same time, then in which skandha does death occur, in which skandha will birth also occur? When the last existence ceases, the first existence does not arise, and when the last does not cease, the first existence does not arise either, ceasing and being born
