Those who possess the correct worldly view, doing good and abstaining from evil, are nevertheless tightly bound by the rope of truly seeing "self," unable to transcend the three realms and enter the peaceful city of Nirvana. In order to loosen the attachment of those trainees who are strongly attached to the view of the aggregates, and to generate a desire for Nirvana, in some places it is also taught that "Here there is no self or sentient being; this Dharma should be known as having causes and conditions," thus teaching the principle of no-self. Those who, due to the difference of past habits, have a special faith in the profound Dharma, have obtained the complete ripening of the seeds connected to it, are close to Nirvana, are free from attachment to self, and are able to fathom the truth of the meaning of the Sugata's teachings, the most profound of the trainees, should especially grasp the difference of their faith. Just as considering self to be a correct view is not correct, similarly, considering its antidote, no-self, to be a correct view is also not correct. Kashyapa, the so-called "self" is one extreme, and "no-self" is two extremes. The middle of these two extremes is without form, invisible, without support, without appearance, without consciousness, without location. Kashyapa, this is the Middle Way, the wisdom that correctly distinguishes all Dharmas. Therefore, the Buddhas also taught that there is neither "self" nor "no-self." The Ratnavali also says: "Thus, person and non-person, truly such are unobtainable; the views of person and non-person, therefore the Great Sage forbids. Seeing and hearing, etc., the Buddha said, are taught as neither true nor false; because they contradict their own tenets, both of them are meaningless." Because the beings to be tamed have different intentions, such as lower, middle, and upper, the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, teach the Dharma by affirming "self," denying "no-self," and denying both. Therefore, the Madhyamikas are not harmed by scriptural authority. Therefore, Aryadeva said: "First, non-meritorious actions are stopped; in the middle, self is stopped; and later, all views are stopped.

Whoever knows, is the wise one. Moreover, the teacher also said: To those grammarians, it is like teaching them to read the letter molds. Similarly, the Buddha, for the beings to be tamed, only teaches the Dharma that they can bear. For some, the Dharma is taught to turn them away from sin; for some, to accomplish merit; for some, neither the two are taught, nor the non-two are taught. Profound and obscure, with the essence of emptiness and compassion, this is said for some who want to achieve Bodhi. It is as it is said like this. Or, this has another meaning, observing the momentary arising and ceasing of conditioned things, thinking that there is no connection of cause and effect in them, therefore the Samkhya school and others also speculate that the basis of the connection of cause and effect is the "self". And, not seeing the reasonable cycle of "self", the materialists think that a person is only as much as the senses can experience. The words spoken by the virtuous and learned are like the footprints of a jackal. Like this, it will also explain the non-self. Just as a person with cataracts sees hairs in the sky, the things observed by ordinary people, for the Buddhas, the Bhagavan, who have not seen the self-nature of self and non-self, neither teach "self" nor teach "non-self". If the Buddhas did not teach both "self" and "non-self", then what did they teach? The object to be expressed has ceased, because the object of the mind has ceased. The nature of the unborn and unceasing, is the same as Nirvana. If there is anything to be expressed here, then it will be spoken. But, when in the ultimate truth, the object to be expressed has ceased, and there is no realm of words, then the Buddhas have not spoken anything. Why is there no object to be expressed? If there is an object of the mind, then some reasons will be fabricated there and words will be used. Because the object of the mind has ceased, therefore words cannot be used. Why is there no object of the mind? Because the nature of the unborn and unceasing, its self-nature is set to be the same as Nirvana, therefore the mind cannot operate there. Third, the order of teaching Suchness is: If unborn
