Even if the Vipāka fruit has ripened, it will ripen again and again, because, like the state when the Vipāka fruit has not yet arisen, its own nature has not disappeared. Therefore, if it is accepted that karma has its own nature, then because karma with its own nature exists, the faults mentioned above will occur. Therefore, karma has no own nature, and because it has no own nature, we will not have the faults of permanence and annihilation. The second view is: if karma has its own nature, it is because it has a cause. Because for things that do not exist, there is no cause, like clothes made of tortoise hair. The cause of karma—the afflictions—exist, because due to ignorance there are formations, and due to grasping (receiving) there is existence (becoming). If you say so, that is also unreasonable. Because: This karma is the nature of affliction, Those afflictions are not real, If those afflictions are not real, How can karma be real? This karma is the nature of affliction, that is, it has the cause of affliction, and those afflictions are not really existent, because they arise dependent on the lovely and unlovely and on perversions. They have no own nature, therefore afflictions are not real. Because it will be explained like this. Therefore, if afflictions are not real, then how can karma, which has it as its cause, be real? Therefore, karma has no own nature. The third view is: karma and afflictions exist, because their result—the body—can be observed. If you say so, that is also unreasonable. Because: Karma and afflictions, Are shown to be the cause of bodies. If karma and afflictions, Are empty, how can one speak of body? Karma and afflictions are only nominally shown as the cause of the body, but not really. How karma and afflictions have no own nature has already been shown before. If karma and afflictions are empty of own nature, then how can their result—the body—be said to have own nature? It should not be said like that, because it is not so. The fourth view is: karma has its own nature, because there is someone who enjoys its results. For example: Any being obscured by ignorance, The one with desire is the enjoyer. He is not another agent,

That is neither it, nor is it not it. Those beings who are obscured by ignorance with afflictions, whoever possesses the all-pervasive connection of craving, are the enjoyers of the fruits of karma. However, this sinful karma is done by oneself, and its maturation is to be experienced individually by oneself, because it is said in the scriptures. That agent of karma is neither different from karma nor the same as it, because it cannot be expressed as the same or different. Therefore, if you say there is an enjoyer of the fruit, if there is no karma, how could there be an agent and an enjoyer of the fruit? Like this: Because this karma is, Not born from conditions, Nor does it arise from the absence of conditions, Therefore, there is no agent either. If there is no karma and no agent, How could there be fruit born from karma? If there is no fruit, How could there be an enjoyer? If there is karma, then consider whether it arises from conditions or from non-conditions. The first is not reasonable, because the conditions have already been analyzed. The second is also not reasonable, because "If there is no cause, there is no effect, and no cause," etc., the agent and karma have already been analyzed. Because in the manner as stated above, this karma is not born from conditions, nor does it arise from non-conditions, therefore, there is no agent of this. When there is no karma and no agent, how could there be fruit born from karma, arising without cause? If there is no fruit, how could there be an enjoyer? Thus, it should be understood that everything is not inherently existent. Secondly, to show by example that action and effect are reasonable in the absence of inherent existence. Thus, when you have established all phenomena as devoid of inherent existence, if it is said that the words of the Bhagavan, "The maturation of the karma done by oneself will be experienced by oneself," will be refuted, and because you slander karma and its fruit, you are the chief of the nihilists, then, we are not nihilists, but we eliminate the duality of existence and non-existence, thereby clarifying the path to non-duality, which is the profound dependent arising, the path to the city of Nirvana. We.
