Furthermore, if things do not have inherent existence, other-existence exists, because there is no negation. If other-existence exists, then does inherent existence also exist? (Answer:) If inherent existence does not exist, where would other-existence exist? The inherent existence of other-existence is said to be other-existence. When analyzed, if no thing whatsoever has inherent existence, then where would other-existence exist? In the world, the inherent existence of other-existence, such as the heat of fire, the wetness of water, etc., is said and known to be other-existence because it depends on others. Second, refuting things and non-things is divided into two. First, refuting things: If inherent existence and other-existence do not exist, things exist, because there is no negation. If things exist, then they must become either inherent existence or other-existence, therefore do they also exist? (Answer:) If there is no inherent existence and other-existence, where would things exist? If inherent existence and other-existence exist, things would be established. If inherent existence and other-existence exist, things would be established, but those two also do not exist in the way previously explained. Therefore, apart from inherent existence and other-existence, where would things exist? It should be ascertained that they do not exist. Second, refuting non-things: If things are refuted, then non-things exist, because there is no negation. Therefore, because there is an opposite, do things also exist? (Answer:) If things are not established, then non-things will not be established. The transformation of a thing into something else is what people call a non-thing. If there is something called a thing, and it transforms into something else, and non-things also exist, but in the way previously explained, when things are not established, the non-things that depend on them will not be established. For example, when a pot, etc., disappears from its present state and becomes shards, etc., obtaining another state, worldly people call it a non-thing. Therefore, non-things also do not exist. Third, showing that the ultimate view is not seen: Those who view inherent existence, other-existence, things, and non-things,

You have not seen it. Thus, since in all aspects, self-nature and other things, entities and non-entities do not exist, those who have impaired the eye of wisdom by the dimness of ignorance and have become perverted, (think that) the self-nature of form is that which can be manifested, feeling is experiencing, and consciousness is distinguishing each object. (They think that) the self-nature of things is like this, form is other, and consciousness is other. Like this, other things and consciousness, etc., present things are entities, and past things are non-entities. Those who think like this have not seen the Buddha's teaching, which is the profound dependent origination, the suchness of the Middle Way that is free from permanence and annihilation. Because the existence of self-nature and other things, etc., itself contradicts the reason stated above. The Tathagatas did not say that the self-nature of things contradicts reason, because they themselves have truly understood the suchness of all things. Therefore, the wise say that the words of the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, are reliable, because they are reasonable and do not deceive. Second, refuting with scripture: In the Lankavatara Sutra, it says: "Those who understand things as arising from conditions, whoever understands them as existing or non-existing, those with heretical views, know that they are far from the teaching." It also says: "Those who destroy my teaching, monks who wear robes, saying that the result exists and saying that the result does not exist, will appear in the future." and so on, extensively explained. The Bhagavat, with wisdom, in Katyayana's instruction, prohibited both existence and non-existence. Because those who think of self-nature and other things, entities and non-entities, the sutra says: "Whoever establishes existence, for what reason is there no existence, those with wrong views who say existence, both existence and non-existence are proclaimed. Likewise, neither existence nor non-existence, when the world sees this, at that time the mind will be transformed, realizing the nature of no-self." Like this. Because it contradicts reason, it is not suchness, therefore, for the beings to be tamed who desire liberation, the Bhagavat
