The statement "of suchness" does not clarify that things are unborn by nature, but rather clarifies that things are without essence, that is, without inherent existence, and shows their destruction. Why is this? If things had inherent existence, they would not be seen as changing into other states, because things appear to change into other states. Therefore, the absence of inherent existence is the meaning of the sutra. Therefore, it is indeed so: things are without essence, because all things are emptiness. Thus, the absence of essence in things does not mean non-existence, because the dharma that depends on things, which is called emptiness, is what is accepted. Without a subject, the dharma that depends on it is also unreasonable, therefore things exist by nature. Furthermore, if there is no essence, what is it that changes? If things have no essence, then the change that is characterized by complete transformation, to what subject does it belong? This is what their own school says. Second, refuting that. Refuting the complete transformation of things, and the first of the two refutations of emptiness as the basis of things: If there is inherent existence, how can it change? A dharma that does not deceive anything is called the nature of that thing. For example, heat does not deceive fire, so it is known in the world as the nature of fire. Therefore, nature must be non-deceptive, so if things have even a little essence or nature, then it is non-deceptive, so how can it change? Just as fire does not become cold. But they are also seen to change, therefore things have no inherent existence. Furthermore, it is impossible for the change by which things become inherently existent to occur, like this: There is no change in itself, nor does it exist in another. Because the young do not age, because aging does not age either. For a while, a thing remains in its previous state, there is no change in itself, because the young who remain in the state of youth do not age, aging

Because it will not become that (state). Like this, not having obtained the state of aging is called youth, because these two states contradict each other. Even if another state is obtained, it will not become other, because aging also does not age, because aging does not need to be associated with aging. Furthermore, if that itself becomes other, then the milk itself will become yogurt. If the previous state itself becomes other, then the milk itself will become yogurt, saying that the milk itself becomes yogurt is unreasonable, because they contradict each other. If it is said that abandoning the state of milk and becoming the state of yogurt, then what other than milk will become the entity of yogurt? If milk does not become yogurt, then what earth, water, etc., other than milk, will become the entity of yogurt? Therefore, saying that another becomes the entity of yogurt is irrelevant. Therefore, because there is a phenomenon of becoming other, things do not have self-nature. Secondly, it is also unreasonable to say that things that are the basis of emptiness have self-nature. Like this, if non-emptiness slightly exists, emptiness will slightly exist. If non-emptiness does not slightly exist, how can emptiness exist? If a non-empty object slightly exists, the emptiness that depends on it will slightly exist, and if the self-nature of the object that is the basis of emptiness also exists, then emptiness itself and selflessness are considered the common characteristics of all dharmas, then there will be no non-emptiness, because there is no non-empty dharma. Because it does not depend on the antidote, just like a garland of sky flowers, how can emptiness exist? It should be determined that it does not exist. When emptiness does not exist, its dependent object also does not exist. Here it is said that in order to liberate those who are to be subdued, the three doors of liberation taught by the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, namely emptiness, signlessness, and wishlessness, are not shared with the heretics, but now you say, if non-emptiness does not slightly exist, emptiness

Could it be? Therefore, if you try to deny emptiness, you are cutting off the path to heaven and liberation. If you are satisfied with this, then how sad! Because of your own meager fortune, you have abandoned the peaceful and upright path to the city of Nirvana, and instead are entangled by the snake of attachment to reality, mistaking the path to the wilderness of samsara as the path to liberation. Your actions should be condemned by the noble ones, but because of your arrogance, you slander the noble ones. Like this: The Buddhas say that emptiness is to abandon all views. Whoever clings to emptiness, they are also beyond help. The great King of Medicine, the Buddhas, in order to cure all diseases of affliction, proclaimed that emptiness is the antidote to abandoning all extreme views that cling to reality. However, those of low intelligence, if they also cling to emptiness as real, then they are like patients abandoned by the doctor, with no remedy whatsoever. For example, if someone says to you, 'I will not give you anything.' Then you say, 'Please give me that thing that has nothing.' Then, just as you cannot grasp that non-existent thing in any way, those who cling to emptiness as real cannot reverse their clinging in any way. Therefore, the great doctor, the Tathagata, has abandoned them. In the "Noble Jewel Heap Sutra" it says: If it is not emptiness that makes all phenomena empty, but the phenomena themselves are emptiness; if it is not signlessness that makes all phenomena signless, but the phenomena themselves are signless; if it is not wishlessness that makes all phenomena wishless, but the phenomena themselves are wishless. Those who observe so separately are called Wisdom Born who correctly observe all phenomena. Wisdom Born, those who cling to emptiness by aiming at emptiness, I say that they have completely deviated from this sutra. Wisdom Born, those who hold the view of self as firm as Mount Sumeru are those with great arrogance.
