Therefore. Others have not done it either, because examining "what is done for what purpose," that other is not done by me, because it is not self-generated, but depends on other causes and conditions. Whatever is not self-generated will not be done by others, like a donkey's horn. Therefore, how can suffering be done by others? This is unreasonable. Third, refuting what is done by both: If it is done by each individually, suffering will become done by both. If I and others each create suffering, suffering becomes done by both, but even so, it is not done by each individually, because it would become the fault that has already been stated. Fourth, refuting causelessness: In another case, it is not done by self, because it depends on conditions. It is not done by others, because without a seed, it will not arise. It is not done by both, because both are without activity. It does not arise from no cause, because both the seed and the conditions have power. It arises from its own seed, not from others. Depending on it, therefore it is not done by self. Because there is no activity, it is not done by both. That is because power does not arise from no cause. It is not done by self, nor is it done by others. How can suffering arise without a cause? As previously stated, when it is not done by self, nor is it done by others, how can suffering exist without a cause? It is like the fragrance of a flower in the sky. Therefore, because there is no suffering, the self that serves as its basis does not exist either. Second, extending this reasoning to other things: Merely suffering, these four ways, are not existent, not only that, but all things also do not exist in these four ways. Merely the aggregates of suffering, are not produced from these four ways of self, other, both, and no cause. All external things also do not exist in the four extremes of arising, and everything should correspond as before. If suffering and so on do not exist in these four ways, then through which way is it established? If these things have a little bit of self-nature, they will be established through any of the four ways. But these things have no self-nature at all, they are just nominal

It is merely established as existing in accordance with inverted views. Therefore, seeking the establishment of these in conventional truth means eliminating the four extremes as previously stated, and acknowledging it through the principle of dependent origination, which is merely based on these causes and conditions. As the teacher also said: Suffering is made by me, made by others, and made by both. The nihilists assert no cause. You say it arises dependently. As it is said. The Blessed One also said: In conventional truth, the Victorious Ones teach the Dharma, look at conditioned and unconditioned things in that way. In reality, there is neither self nor other, such is the nature of all beings. Virtuous and non-virtuous actions do not perish; what I have done, I will experience. The fruits of actions do not transfer; without a cause, one will not experience them either. All existences are like illusions, without power, accumulating and dissipating like bubbles. Like illusions and mirages, they are always empty. Thus it is said. Thus it is proclaimed.

All these also, as previously explained, do not arise from self, other, both, or without cause, and there is no other way of arising, therefore they become without inherent existence. However, due to the darkness of ignorance, those whose eyes of wisdom are impaired still perceive them as the nature of arising. Just as magicians deceive those who do not understand with illusory horses and elephants, these formations are of a deceptive nature, therefore, these formations, like mirages, are of a false nature. Whatever is true is not of a deceptive nature, such as Nirvana. Therefore, as previously stated, the scriptures and reasoning establish that phenomena are without inherent existence. As it says in the Prajnaparamita Sutra: All phenomena are emptiness, existing in the manner of being without inherent existence. If, in this way, merely because of having a deceptive nature, it is shown that all formations are false, then, if this is the case, everything does not exist, and it will become a nihilistic wrong view. If one thinks like this, then, if what is the deceptive dharma? If it is false, what does it deceive? When we say that whatever is a deceptive dharma is false, then, for the formation, which is of a false nature, what can be deceived in the way of changing from previously existing to later not existing? Because nothing has become non-existent, your accusation is unreasonable. If the view of the non-existence of things is not shown here, then what does this scripture show? The Blessed One said: Through fully showing emptiness. What the Blessed One said about formations being false, deceptive dharmas, is not showing the non-existence of things, but fully showing the emptiness of not being inherently born. As it says in the Sutra Requested by the Noble Naga King Anavatapta: Whatever arises from cause and condition does not truly arise. It does not have the nature of arising. Whatever depends on conditions is said to be emptiness. Whoever understands emptiness is a cautious person. Second, regarding the meaning of the scripture, there are two parts to refute the argument. First, presenting the argument: Phenomena do not have inherent existence, because they appear to change. Formations are false, having a deceptive
