If conditioned phenomena are completely unestablished, how can unconditioned phenomena be established? As explained before, if conditioned phenomena are completely unestablished, then how can other unconditioned phenomena, such as space, analytical cessation, non-analytical cessation, and suchness, be established? Because the contradictory conditioned phenomena are unestablished. The Vaibhashika school states: "Unconditioned phenomena are two cessations, space, and suchness." Analytical cessation refers to the cessation obtained by individually analyzing manifest afflictions with wisdom. This cessation causes things to cease and be separated, so it is real. Non-analytical cessation refers to something that ceases but is not separated. Space is that which provides opportunity and has the characteristic of being unobstructive. Suchness refers to the emptiness of the nature of things, indicated by things that did not exist before, do not exist after destruction, do not exist in relation to each other, and do not exist at all. These are also not established in ultimate truth. In the Essence of Madhyamaka, it says: "The cessation of the unborn is also, not a cessation in reality. Because it is the cessation of the unborn, like non-analytical cessation." If there is no birth for conditioned phenomena and other things, then what unborn or born thing do you want to cease? Similarly, space and suchness should also be understood as being refuted in the same way. Third, refuting contradictions with the scriptures: If there is no birth and so on, then how should we understand the words of the Bhagavan: "Monks, the arising of conditioned phenomena is also manifest, and destruction and change from abiding are also manifest"? Like a dream, like an illusion, like a city of gandharvas, so is birth, so is abiding, so is destruction spoken of. Just as dreams, illusions, and cities of gandharvas are not truly born by their own nature, but are spoken of and expressed in the world with names such as illusion, so too, birth, abiding, and destruction, although they are not truly existent by their own nature, should be understood as being spoken of only in accordance with how they are known in the world. As it is said: In the Samadhiraja Sutra

From... This, connected by skin, tendons, flesh, and bones, I. Generating the thought that it is a wife, Children, the ignorant, generate desire, Like an illusion, they do not understand women. Like in a young girl's dream, A boy is born and dies, seeing this scene, Happy when born, unhappy when dead, All phenomena should be known as such. Like a Gandharva city, a mirage, Like an illusion, like a dream, All phenomena should be known as such, Meditating on signs, the essence is empty. Thus it is said. In the Root Wisdom of the Middle Way, the examination of conditioned things, that is, the commentary on the seventh chapter. Explanation of the eighth chapter. Eighth, in the chapter examining action and agent, the initial position is stated: Consciousness and other conditioned dharmas exist by their own nature, because there are action and agent as their cause. For example, the Bhagavan said: This person associated with ignorance also performs meritorious actions, and also performs non-meritorious and immovable actions. Therefore, to refute this view, it is divided into refuting the agent and action, and comparing this reasoning to others. The first part is divided into refuting the individual agent, and refuting the three aggregates as the agent. The first part is divided into stating the proposition and explaining the reasoning. The first part is: Agent and action are also merely nominal designations, not truly existent. Thus: He who has become the agent, does not do the action that has become. He who has not become the agent, does not do the action that has not become. He who has become the agent, because he has function, does not do the action that has become and has function. He who has not become the agent, because he does not have function, does not do the action that has not become and does not have function. Second, explaining the proof of the first proposition: Having become, there is no action, without an agent, it also becomes. Having become an agent, there is no other action, because the agent's action is only one, and with this, the agent has been marked, after becoming an agent, there is no second action of what to do.
