Therefore. If the nature is different, how can it become one? If they are different, like light and darkness, since different things have not been seen as one, how can they become one? Furthermore, if only one is together, then there will be no companion there. If different ones are together, then there will be no companion there. If one thinks that a single thing is together, then a solitary thing without a companion will also become one. If one thinks that different things are one, then a lonely cow without a horse companion, living in a different place from the horse, will also become one with the horse, because they are different. Furthermore, if different ones are together, will desire and attachment, etc., become different establishments? Therefore, those two will become one. If one thinks that desire and attachment are different in nature, will desire and attachment, like a cow and a horse, become mutually independent different establishments? If those two become mutually independent different establishments, then even if those two become one, these two are not established independently of each other, therefore those two have no oneness. If one has not seen things that are not established as different becoming one, if desire and attachment, etc., become different establishments, if you think they are established, then why do they completely think of them as one in order to be established? Because the establishment of difference itself can make them established. Furthermore, if, because it is not established as different, therefore one wants oneness, if desire and attachment are not established as different, therefore one wants them to be one, then for things that are not established as different, there is also nothing. In order to strongly prove oneness, does one also want difference? That is, one must want mutually independent differences, like this, because things that are not different are not established, so things that are not one will not be established. Here, like a cow and a horse, mutually independent different things are called one, but because things that are not mutually independent different are not established, so one thing will not be established.

Because it will not be established. This shows that things that are established together must depend on different things. If it is admitted that the establishment of different things depends on things that are together, and combined: If there is anything in different things, it is considered to be in things that are together. If greed and desire exist in independent different things, then the different thing that is considered to exist in the thing that is together, that does not depend on the thing that is together, does not exist, because their two different establishments are considered to depend on the thing that is together. Therefore, since the establishments are mutually dependent, neither will be established. The third is: Therefore, greed and desire, together or not together, will not be established. Therefore, if analyzed in this way, greed and desire, whether together or not together, whether before or after, will not be established, so they are actually not established. Second, comparing this principle to other things: All dharmas are like greed, together or not together, will not be established. Just as the reason mentioned above, that greed and desire are not established, so too, hatred and aversion, ignorance and delusion, etc., all dharmas should be analogized as not being established together or not together. Therefore, the Blessed One said: Regarding what is greed, regarding what there is greed, through what greed arises, what is hatred, regarding what there is hatred, through what hatred arises, what is ignorance, regarding what there is ignorance, through what ignorance arises, that dharma is not truly seen accordingly, and that dharma is invisible, etc. Commentary on the sixth chapter of the Mulamadhyamakakarika, which examines greed and desire.
