Moreover, the agent would also become two. Therefore, in all cases, it is unreasonable to begin going. Therefore, it is said (in the scriptures), "Where does one begin to go?" Furthermore, it is also unreasonable to begin going through this reasoning. Like this: Before beginning to go, where does one begin to go? There is no crossing, and there is no gone. Where is the not-gone going? Before Devadatta begins to go, when he is sitting, where does he begin to go? There is no path of crossing, and there is no path of gone, because the activity of going has not yet begun. If you say that before beginning to go, although there is no gone and no crossing, there is a path of not-gone, and one begins to go there, then, when not-gone, the activity of going has not arisen, and the activity of going has not begun. Therefore, it is irrelevant to say that one begins to go there. Where is the not-gone going? If you say that although there is no beginning to go in the gone, not-gone, and crossing, the gone, not-gone, and crossing exist, but going does not exist, then these are also unreasonable. The beginning of going in all aspects is non-existent. What is gone? What is crossing? What is not-gone? How to distinguish? If the beginning of going exists, then where the activity of going has ceased is gone, where the activity of going has been completed is crossing, and where the activity of going has not yet arisen is not-gone, and thus one can distinguish. But as said before, the beginning of going in all aspects is non-existent and invisible. Then, what is the path of gone? What is the path of crossing? What is the path of not-gone? How to distinguish? Since the paths of the three times cannot be distinguished, therefore, the going, which is the cause of its expression, also does not exist. Secondly, if you say that going exists because its opposite, staying, exists, then, for the moment, the goer does not stay, and the non-goer does not stay. Other than the goer and the non-goer, who is the third one who will stay? Is staying the goer, or the non-goer, or something other than the two? For the moment, the goer, for the moment, the goer does not stay, because he is not separated from the activity of going. For one who is separated from going, staying, which is the opposite of going, is unreasonable. How does one not stay?
