The so-called "Napa," these four views rely on the later extreme. Similarly, the views that "the world has an end," and so on, as well as "no end," "both end and no end," "neither end nor no end," also rely on the later extreme. Among them, the four views that hold to having an end, etc., generally arise relying on the later extreme. And the four views that "will I exist in the future," etc., arise relying solely on the later extreme of myself. This is the difference between the two sets of four views. Second, the detailed explanation. It is divided into two types: refutation in terms of conventional truth and refutation in terms of ultimate truth. The first type is further divided into three: refuting attachment to the former extreme, refuting attachment to the latter extreme, and refuting other classifications of attachment to both the former and latter extremes. The first type has three. First, refuting that the self existed in the past. It is divided into stating the proposition and explaining the proof. The first is: "Having arisen in the past," this statement is unreasonable. "Whatever arose in past lives," "this is not that." Saying that I arose in the past is unreasonable. If what arose in past lives is what exists now, then that would be reasonable. But what arose in past lives is not this present one, because it would become permanent, and permanence is impossible in samsara. The second is: refuting that the former and later self are one, refuting that the aggregates are the self, refuting that something other than the aggregates is the self, and the conclusion of the refutation. First: If that is this, that is, if the past and the present are the same, what fault would there be? Answer: It would become permanent, this fault has already been stated. There are other faults as well. If one thinks that that becomes the self, then the aggregates will become different. If one thinks that the past one becomes this present self, then, if the aggregates of the past and present two are not different, then the aggregates of the five aggregates of the past and present two will become different, because the cause of the aggregates is different and the time is different. Therefore, the past self and the present

It is not purely so. If it is said that the aggregates of grasping are separate, but the "I" is one, therefore, is the "I" something that appeared in the past? If asked in this way, what is your "I" other than the aggregates of grasping? If the aggregates of grasping are other, and the "I" is also other, then, even if the aggregates of grasping are separate, but the "I" is not separate, if it is considered reasonable to say so, then what is your "I" other than the aggregates of grasping, which are the nature of the five aggregates? The "I" and the aggregates of grasping cannot be proven to be separate, because merely being separate from the aggregates of grasping, there is no need to rely on it. Because the "I" would become causeless, and it would become something that can be separately grasped. Therefore, it is unreasonable to say that the aggregates of grasping are separate, but the "I" is not separate. The second case is: if it is said that there is no "I" separate from the aggregates of grasping, but the aggregates of grasping themselves are the "I", this is also unreasonable. Other than the aggregates of grasping, when saying "there is no I", if the aggregates of grasping themselves are the "I", then your "I" will not exist. Because it is thought that there is no "I" other than the aggregates of grasping, so the aggregates of grasping themselves are the "I", if it is thought in this way, then your "I" will not exist, because the aggregates of grasping cannot be the "I". Just like this: the aggregates of grasping themselves are not the "I", they have arising and ceasing. How can the aggregates of grasping become the grasper? The aggregates of grasping, which are the nature of the five aggregates, themselves are not the "I", because the aggregates arise and cease moment by moment, and the "I" cannot be like this. It cannot be said that the "I" is the same or other, etc., nor can it be said to be permanent or impermanent, because it would fall into many faults. Just like this, if the "I" is permanent, it will become a proponent of permanence; if it is impermanent, it will become a proponent of annihilation. And these two views of permanence and annihilation will cause great harm, so they should not be accepted. Furthermore, if the aggregates of grasping are the "I", then the aggregates of grasping themselves will become the grasper, because the action and the actor are the same, therefore, the cutter and the cut, and the potter and the pot will also become the same. The third case is: here, merely the aggregates of grasping are not the "I".
