I think, if the Mahayana existed at the time when the Bhagavan was alive, it would be similar to arguing later that the Mahayana is not the Buddha's word. It is not like that. After the Bhagavan passed away into nirvana, the teachings of the Mahayana declined for a long time. Later, the noble Nagarjuna appeared and propagated the Mahayana teachings, as prophesied by the Buddha. Later, the noble Nagarjuna clarified the view through works such as the "Collection of Reasoning" of Madhyamaka, and clarified the practice through works such as the "Compendium of Sutras," thus propagating the Mahayana teachings. At that time, some Shravaka disciples, because they had not heard the sound of the Mahayana for a long time, used this as an excuse to slander, saying that the Mahayana was not spoken by the Buddha, but was fabricated by Nagarjuna himself. Therefore, I think like this: The Vinaya Pitaka of the Bhagavan's teachings, known as the four divisions of the Vinaya, a collection of one hundred thousand verses, because there were four commentators who had different understandings of how to take vows, etc., resulted in four lineages of practice and split into four schools. These schools, due to differences in residence, teachers, and attire, etc., further divided into eighteen internal name distinctions. However, all of these schools follow the same Vinaya Pitaka of the Bhagavan, so they have not deviated from the Buddha's teachings. That is what I think. If understood in this way, it would be consistent with the dream of King Kriki, who dreamed of a large cloth being pulled in different directions by eighteen people, but the cloth itself was not damaged. The school of Kashyapiyas explained that this was a symbol of the Buddha's teachings splitting into eighteen schools, but the cloth of liberation would not be damaged. This prophecy fits very well. That is what I think. The fundamental distinctions of these schools and the branches that arose from them are clearly explained in the "Blazing Logic" of the teacher Lekdenjé and the "Wheel of Different Schools," so one should consult them there. Because there is not enough space here, I have not written it. Regarding the question of how many divisions there are in the Sutra school, I have not seen any clear treatises explaining its divisions. Some Tibetans think

It is said that there are two views on understanding in a true manner: one that asserts the equality of the number of consciousnesses, and one that asserts the non-duality of diversity. What is the difference between the Vaibhashika and Sautrantika schools? In the foundational stage, both agree that among the five bases of knowable objects, form, mind, and mental factors are all substantially existent. However, regarding non-associated compositional factors and conditioned phenomena, the Vaibhashikas assert their substantial existence, while the Sautrantikas assert their nominal existence. Regarding mind and mental factors, the Vaibhashikas believe that they lack the appearance of objects and self-awareness, while the Sautrantikas hold the opposite view. Regarding form, the Vaibhashikas believe that unmanifested form exists and is impenetrable, while the Sautrantikas believe that everything is penetrable. In the stage of the path, there is not much disagreement, as all individuals of the three types of dispositions are said to be liberated by meditating on the selflessness of the person alone. However, regarding the result, the Vaibhashikas believe that the nirvana with remainder and nirvana without remainder are substantially existent results of abandoning all afflictions. The Sautrantikas, on the other hand, believe that the antidote is the mere negation of what is to be abandoned, a non-affirming negation. The Vaibhashikas believe that the fruit of an Arhat can degenerate and revert to being a returner, etc. The Sautrantikas believe that one only degenerates from the meditative state of dwelling happily in the present life, and therefore do not believe that one degenerates from the fruit called "one who degenerates from the Dharma." What is the distinction between the two types of Mind-Only, the true aspectarian and the false aspectarian? There are no others besides these two. Among the true aspectarians, there are two types: those who assert the non-duality of diversity and those who assert the equality of the number of apprehended and apprehending. The first view holds that the various appearances of blue, yellow, white, red, etc., in a single consciousness are the very nature of that consciousness. There is also a true aspectarian called "the one who seeks through the five gates," who believes that the nature of the appearing consciousness is real and different in substance from the appearing consciousness. The false aspectarians are divided into two: those who believe that the apprehended object appears in consciousness as fabricated and tainted, and those who do not believe that the apprehended object appears, and are therefore untainted. What is the difference between the true aspectarian and the false aspectarian? The true aspectarian believes that the apprehended object that appears in consciousness, although appearing as an external object due to the power of habit, is actually the nature of consciousness itself and not an external object. The false aspectarian believes that apart from the apprehended object appearing as an external object due to the power of habit
