That which is called "tsan" refers to scriptures that have hidden meanings and those that do not, definitive meanings and provisional meanings, literal meanings and non-literal meanings, thus possessing six boundaries. Treatises are also of two kinds: those composed by noble ones and those composed by ordinary beings. If the treatises of ordinary beings, which have hidden meanings, etc., contradict the Buddha's words, then the authority of the Buddha's words prevails. Although it may appear that there is contradiction with the three aspects of having hidden meanings, etc., in order to examine the intention of the Buddha's words, one should not definitively consider them contradictory. It is impossible for the three aspects of the treatises of noble ones and the Buddha's words without hidden meanings, etc., to contradict each other. Even if it appears that there is contradiction with the three aspects of having hidden meanings, etc., the authority of the treatises should prevail. Because what children consider contradictory is actually internally consistent, noble ones rely on treatises to understand the intention of the Buddha's words, and it is impossible to understand it independently. So, who is greater, the noble Nagarjuna or the noble Asanga? In general, even noble ones cannot fathom the mindstream of an individual, so how much less can one fathom the mindstream of those who have become the greatest among the great? However, if we rely on the prophecies of the Buddha to make a slight estimation, the noble Nagarjuna is prophesied in the Lankavatara Sutra: "After the Protector passes into nirvana, he will uphold the Dharma. You should know that he is of great wisdom. In the southern country of Vidarbha, there will be a virtuous bhikshu named Naga, who will be known as 'Nagarjuna,' who will destroy the extremes of existence and non-existence. In this world, he will reveal the unsurpassed vehicle of my Dharma, attain the first joyous ground, and go to the Pure Land of Bliss." Thus, he is directly prophesied as a noble one who has attained the first ground. In the Great Cloud Sutra, he is also praised in various ways, saying, "He is the second Shakyamuni. There is no such person, nor will there be." Furthermore, it is prophesied that in the future, after countless kalpas like stars, in the world called "Joyful Light," he will attain enlightenment as a Buddha named "Source of Wisdom Light." There are also prophecies in the Manjushri Root Tantra and other scriptures. In the Golden Light Sutra, it says, "He is called the Licchavi youth who is pleasing to all the world." This is none other than this teacher. In India, this teacher composed forty sutras.

Therefore, it is known as a prophecy. Therefore, in India, this teacher is also regarded by the great Mahayana Panditas and accomplished Yogis as being no different from the Tathagata himself, and there has never been any refutation or even a sign of refutation of his views. The noble Asanga is also prophesied in the Manjushri Root Tantra as: A monk named Asanga will appear, he will be skilled in the meaning of the treatises, and will elaborately explain the definitive and provisional meanings of the sutras in many ways. Masters like Shantipa also consider him to be a Bodhisattva who has attained the third Bhumi. Many Mahayana Panditas from Chandragomin onwards also regard him as a second Buddha. However, some of Nagarjuna's direct disciples, such as Lekdenjey, hold that this teacher did not go beyond the scope of Cittamātra and refuted it. Therefore, they apparently do not consider him to be a noble being. Thus, the answer to the question asked by the virtuous friend has been recorded as much as one's own intelligence allows. If there is a collection of errors in it, may the wise and noble ones forgive it. Just like the letters following the worm's trail, if there is any spark of good explanation in this, may all sentient beings as infinite as space, by that merit, enter the city of unsurpassed liberation. This was written by Youthful Intelligence at the secluded place of Pabzang, in response to the kindness of the virtuous friend Sherab Trak. May virtue and goodness increase! The answer to the question of Geshe Sherab Trak.
