If asked, according to what is it evident that all sentient beings possess (the Tathagatagarbha)? The answer is: according to scripture and reasoning. Firstly, regarding scripture, as stated in the Uttaratantra: "If there were no Buddha-nature, there would be no weariness of suffering, nor desire for Nirvana, nor seeking or aspiration for attainment." and so on. Reasoning also exists. If sentient beings did not have the seed of the uncontaminated, it would not be possible for the uncontaminated path to arise, because there would be no cause of similar nature. If it is thought that the seeds of all afflictions act as a cause of similar nature, that is unreasonable, because what is to be abandoned and the antidote are extremely dissimilar, and dissimilar things cannot act as cause and effect; otherwise, it would be extremely absurd for thick darkness to arise even from a flame. May this, the essence of the questions posed by the learned translator Lama Dondrub in his letter, be written down and sent by us, Gonnu Lodro, with our limited understanding, be auspicious! Shubham.

Teacher, nowadays some people think that when four monks receive ordination, it is necessary to quote scriptures, or rely on the flower garland lineage, which is unreasonable. The flower garland lineage is not intended for this, and there are also deficiencies in the scriptural texts, which can be known from the quotations in the extensive commentary and the explanations in the context. The root sutra says that at least five monks are required in remote areas. Moreover, in the fundamental matter, the appointment of a secret witness is not valid, and without a secret witness, the ritual is beyond the scope, so the karma is not valid. If it is known that he is not a monk, the (vow) will not arise, meaning that if the abbot is actually not a monk, but is considered a monk in the karma, then knowing that he is not a monk, the vow will not arise. Even if it is done by a householder, if he is actually a householder, but is considered a pure monk in the karma, and he firmly believes in it, then the vow will arise, which is not contradictory. For a pure monk, if the karma is performed in the three impure remote areas, the vow will arise. The vow does not arise in the central region, which is in terms of the karma of full ordination. Even if karmas such as posadha are performed in the central region, they are valid. A monk giving the novice vows, which is not mentioned in any sutra or commentary, so it is absolutely not allowed. In the ritual of discipline, one cannot use speculation and reason to support it. If you do this, it will cause great harm to the Dharma, and if anyone does this, please expel them. If full ordination is given by someone without an abbot, etc., it will be a transgression, meaning that when the vow arises, it will produce a fundamental transgression. Before that, although a slight preparatory sin will arise, due to the blessing corresponding to the transgression, it will not hinder the karma. Compared to doing it with an abbot and an acharya, it is purer to do it without an abbot. If the abbot and the acharya do it together, it is not mentioned in any sutra, it is self-created. The scriptures say that even without an abbot, it can be done. Regarding the value of an ungranted item, the scriptures say it is four karshapanas. Due to differences in region and time, the value of karshapanas will vary in size, and there is no saying of the value of karshapanas in Tibet, so it is very difficult. However, in the Basis of Stories, it is said that twelve mashakas are the measure of the smallest value of karshapanas. Mashaka is equivalent to six gold in Tibet, and if half a tael of gold is used as a measure today, I don't think there will be a fault of excessive value. The ancients said "a good alms", etc., there is no basis for it. Auspicious!
