Accepting this view is rarer than seeing a star in the daytime, and it seems as if it has never occurred in this snowy land (referring to Tibet). Those with little merit will not even doubt this view, let alone realize it as it is. If someone pursues it with a doubtful attitude, that is also very fortunate. Those who practice properly through hearing and thinking, etc., are even more sublime than the noble ones. As it is said in the Four Hundred Verses: "Those with little merit will not even doubt this Dharma; doubting this Dharma can destroy the three realms of existence." Thus it is said. In short, those who want to improve themselves should believe in the lineage of the noble Nagarjuna. As it is said in the Engaging in Bodhisattva Deeds: "From the path of the feet of the teacher Nagarjuna, outsiders cannot obtain peace; their worldly truths deviate from the truth, and by deviating from the two truths, liberation cannot be achieved." Thus it is said. In this way, the thoughts of all the Sugatas of the three times are realized by the noble Nagarjuna. Nagarjuna's lineage is unparalleled, and this is the lineage of the Prasangika. Therefore, all statements that do not conform to this do not go beyond the extremes of permanence and annihilation, and I think they have embarked on the wrong path. Furthermore, the so-called "untainted seed" should be understood through three aspects: its nature, its detailed classification, and the cognition of its existence. First, for all sentient beings, it naturally exists from beginningless time, nourished by the cause of hearing, gradually increasing until the peak of worldly dharma, becoming the cause for the first moment of the path of seeing. It exists on the Alaya consciousness like water and milk mixed together, in a way that the Alaya consciousness and itself are neither the same nor different. Moreover, as long as it is not nourished by the cause of hearing, it remains in the nature of potential. It is also called the naturally existing lineage, also called the untainted seed, also called the difference of the six sense bases (eye, ear, nose, tongue, body, mind), and it exists in the nature of the unobscured and unspecified. If it is virtuous, then in the continuum of those with wrong views who have severed the root of virtue,

If the lineage that abides in its own nature does not exist, that is also not acceptable. If it is not afflicted, then it abides only in unobscured and unspecified [neutrality] because it is easy to cultivate. Why is this called the distinction of the six sense sources? Because wherever this is, it indicates that the six sense sources within that place are individuals possessing the lineage of any of the three vehicles. Therefore, it is also called the distinction of the six sense sources, because it distinguishes the inner six sense sources, being the characteristic of making distinctions. When this is nourished by the condition of hearing, and it grows, then it is also called the lineage that arises from correct appropriation and that has changed from growth. It is a subsequent virtue because it is a habit of virtue. However, subsequent virtue is a type of virtue, so at that time, its nature should also be unobscured and unspecified. In the *Compendium of the Great Vehicle*, in the section on "external, internal, and unclear," it is said that all sentient beings are unclear in both virtue and non-virtue. Second, its detailed distinctions are: On the ālaya-consciousness, some of the undefiled seeds that exist in the nature of potential can become the cause of transcendent wisdom that realizes only the selflessness of the individual; some can become the cause of realizing only the selflessness of phenomena in addition to that; some can become the cause of wisdom that realizes both selflessnesses; and some can become the cause of all three realizations depending on conditions. Those are called the lineage of the Hearers, the lineage of the Solitary Buddhas, the lineage of the Great Vehicle, and the lineage of the Undetermined, respectively. Therefore, in the *Ornament of the Sūtras*, it says: "Lineage is determined and undetermined, as well as elements and inclinations, differences in practice, and because the results are distinguished, it is said to have lineage." In general, for those who have lineage, there are determined and undetermined lineages, and for those whose lineage is determined, the reasons for having different lineages of the three vehicles are also explained. Third, the way to know that it exists is: If such an undefiled seed that has come along from beginningless time, the mind
