Many auspicious signs appeared, the body was free from suffering, and the mind was filled with happiness. At the time of birth, both mother and son were free from the suffering of childbirth. It is praised: Like the Victorious One in the Lumbini Garden, when you were born from the womb of the immaculate mother, because you did not hold the perfect body of merit, did you transform into Brahma and Ishvara, or did you pass away? So it is said. Then, he was raised with milk, yogurt, and the essence of butter, and was named Jetsun (Venerable One). Before he could speak and understand meaning, when he heard the sound of the Three Jewels or saw the objects of refuge, he developed great faith and reverence. Both parents passed away in their youth, and the aunt, the Dakini named Tashi Bum, served him tirelessly from his youth until he became a great scholar. Her kindness was immense, he said. This great being, as a child, said to his aunt: "Either I will obtain the insignia of Sakya Ponchen (Sakya Great Official) and bring happiness to Tibet, or I will enter the Buddhist order and make the Dharma shine like the sun." The aunt said: "Jetsun (Venerable One) Lowoche (Great Wisdom), you will not accomplish either of these two things, don't be too arrogant." At that time, he became famous as Jetsun (Venerable One) Lowoche (Great Wisdom). At that time, from Pagchen (Holy One) Chosang Palwa, he received many teachings on Great Compassion, such as refuge, bodhicitta, and the vows of Nyen-ne (fasting retreat). After that, the great being thought that in order to make the attainment of leisure and endowment meaningful, he must enter the Buddhist order. Therefore, in front of the crown jewel of those who hold the saffron robes in the snowy land, the venerable Sasang Panchen (Sasang Pandita), at the age of eighteen, he received the vows of a lay follower and a novice monk, and was named Zhonnu Lodro (Youthful Intelligence). After that, in order to enter the gate of understanding all fields of knowledge, the "General Explanation" and the extensive treatise "Pramanavarttika" (Commentary on Valid Cognition), he approached the feet of the great scholar Nyawon Kunga and the Khenchen (Great Abbot) Sangye Pel, who was skilled in scriptures and reasoning, and studied diligently. He gained a rough understanding of "Pramanavarttika", and then began to debate, gaining a reputation for extraordinary intelligence. At that time, Gyalwai Sraspo (Son of the Victorious One) Thogme

Just hearing the auspicious and glorious name, one's hair stands on end, tears well up in the eyes, and so on. He went to the Dharma Fortress of Ngulchu (Silver Water), and in the presence of the Great Bodhisattva, he took vows and generated Bodhicitta. He received many Dharma teachings, such as the Great Vehicle Mind Training. Then, he went to the throne and gave a single response on the Dharma throne. Not a single word was in accordance with the scriptures. Even if the Sangha did not know, he himself felt very ashamed. Thinking that if he did not understand what the Pramāṇavārttika (Commentary on Valid Cognition) itself was saying, he might be deceived by the oral tradition of the teachers, he went into retreat in Sakya. He devoted himself to the scriptures. He studied the Seven Treatises on Valid Cognition, including the root texts, commentaries, and sub-commentaries. He also studied the excellent explanations of Sakya Paṇḍita Khenrab Wangchuk and U Yukpa Rigpai Senge. By listening to the Dharma from both the great and small teachers, he thoroughly understood the meaning of the Seven Treatises on Valid Cognition, including their commentaries, without any distortion. As a result, his fame as a scholar spread throughout the land. He composed both large and small commentaries on the Pramāṇavārttika, along with a general meaning. Even the slightest ray of his excellent explanations can steal the brilliance of millions of self-proclaimed wise men like fireflies, and radiate thousands upon thousands of rays of reasoning. This intelligence is like a sun that has never existed before. The seeds that emerge from the womb of the Alaya (storehouse consciousness), carefully nurtured by the mother of wisdom, and constantly cared for by the mother of diligence, thus, in this land of snow, I, the successor of the glorious name, was born. Even so, in this land of snow mountains, people are not skilled in distinguishing between the wise and the foolish, like a precious jewel falling into the hands of a fisherman. They associate with groups who sell inferior wisdom. Although one can crush the heads of opposing elephants with the claws of reasoning and the teeth of refutation, because there are no impartial judges to distinguish between good and bad, even the pack of slanderous foxes always opposes. Thus he spoke and praised: Possessing the flavor of hundreds of thousands of reasonings, causing joy to those endowed with great intelligence, you are the only one who can fully expound the unique system of the Pramāṇavārttika. And, The thick hair of the Seven Treatises on Valid Cognition covers the neck, the power of the Sutras is vast, the burden of each commentary, your wisdom
