At the same time, one gains a definite understanding. I do not think that there is anything above this Go-yul view that can be removed. He said that if one does not understand this, it is not the ultimate view. Regarding the way of composing works: Like the supreme ornament of the scholars of the world, the four great commentaries, the root four verses, the three verses, the Mahāyāna-sūtrālaṃkāra, the Abhidharmakośa, and the glorious Guhyasamāja, etc., he wrote eleven commentaries. Furthermore, he studied well many treatises translated into Tibetan, and almost all the sutras and tantras. In order to distinguish the truth of one's own and others' tenets, he gained fearless eloquence in the assembly of scholars. Thus he said. Regarding the way of cultivating disciples: Omniscient Sher O, Lobsang Drakpa, etc., seven spiritual friends who knew the vast range of doctrines. Five of the seven are: Dharma Lord Peljorwa, Gojo Nyima, Kachuwa Kunga Pal, Darma, Söshe. Twenty who speak well on the four teachings, and hundreds of students who knew Pramana. Thus he said. Regarding what he focused on in his practice: Although he wanted to practice single-pointedly in a secluded place the meaning of extensive hearing and contemplation, and to uphold the Buddha's intention properly, he was previously dominated by distraction and laziness. Sometimes he meditated on compassion focused on beings equal to space, and sometimes he meditated on the wisdom that realizes the emptiness of samsara and nirvana. Sometimes he meditated alternately, and sometimes he meditated in combination. However, most of the time he was controlled by laziness. Thus he said. And again he said: When the belief in the infallibility of cause and effect, and the wisdom that realizes the emptiness of dependent origination, become inseparable and united, then one enters the Middle Way free from extremes. For all phenomena that appear and are spoken of, the imputed constructs established by one's own and others' tenets, and the darkness of the innate mind's grasping at reality, can be completely dispelled by the light of pure scripture and reasoning, so that at the time of appearance one realizes emptiness, and at the time of realizing emptiness appearance is not obstructed. When one gains certainty in this way of union, then one has realized the Buddha's intention. When discriminating with hearing, thought, and reason, if one negates appearance and establishes emptiness, and when one realizes emptiness appearance vanishes, or if one removes the conventional and establishes the ultimate, these all fall into the abyss of the extreme views of permanence and annihilation.

Therefore, one strays far from the path that pleases the Buddhas. When the wisdom of the noble one born from meditation arises, the various characteristics of the knower and the known do not appear like a rainbow in the sky. Just as water merges with water and oil merges with oil, when the realm and wisdom merge without distinction, one sees that very nature in a way that is unseen, and abides in the Dharmakaya in a way that is without abiding. Nirvana and the radiant Dharmakaya are asserted by the Buddha's son, the bodhisattva Nagarjuna. However, for the sentient beings to be tamed, who are of superior, middling, and inferior capacities, through the power of previously accumulated merit and accomplished prayers, the incarnate bodies that suit their individual minds spontaneously engage in activities in the cycle of existence. Thus it is said. Lama Vajrapani was prophesied that if he recited to Manjushri for seven months, he would directly teach the Dharma. When the disciples requested him to do so, he said that since Manjushri is a great bodhisattva of the tenth bhumi, there would be immeasurable benefits from meeting him directly. However, he said that cultivating the mind of enlightenment is far superior to reciting mantras for seven months. Furthermore, I did not previously focus much on calm abiding, but mainly practiced insight. That is, in meditative equipoise, I practiced by recollecting selflessness of self, and from the perspective of discriminating the elements. In post-meditation, I practiced by analyzing various appearances of objects, both general and specific, as being without inherent existence. Although I had not meditated much before, it was very helpful in enhancing the view. Even if one only has an understanding of the view, if one does not know how to practice, it will not be enhanced. If experience arises, it seems that even with just an understanding, one cannot stop the proliferation of afflictions and thoughts. Thus he said. The way to offer vows is: In short, one must ascertain the ultimate nature of the view, understand the key points of practice, and have a firm conviction, not just in words, about the faults of samsara and the seeds of liberation. While having unwavering faith in the qualities of the teacher and the teachings, if one does not make practice the essence and instead focuses on the appearances of this life, what else can I think but that my heart is rotting? Therefore, do not waste the remaining life in remote places, and do not let life and practice be unbalanced. Instead, do you gather retinues with contrived methods that pretend to benefit others, and focus on appearances? If you focus on comfortable Dharma and laziness, what will the Dharma protectors do?
