Destroying the thick darkness, igniting the lamp of the Middle Way free from extremes. Afterwards, through the unobstructed prophecy of Shakyamuni Buddha, after acknowledging the kindness of Maitreya, it is said that they clarified the tenets of the Mind-Only school, which is well-known among the great chariots of China and Tibet. These are the founders of the Great Vehicle chariot, the intentions of the Great Vehicle Sutras and Tantras, whoever explains them in a way that does not agree with the tenets of these two, is known to be on the wrong path. Thus, I, the founder of the chariot of commentary on the intentions, appeared in the land of the noble ones (India) in the teachings of Shakyamuni Buddha. Whatever does not agree with those tenets, that is not within the scope of the Sugata's tenets. Therefore, those who wish to perfect themselves should become well-acquainted with these principles, and on all the various views of Dharma tenets, it is beautiful if practiced with yoga, otherwise it is not. In this land of snow mountains, the erroneous doctrines and religions that are mainly led by the ignorant are inconceivable. Some of the tenets that are known to be reliable to the wise are also seen as untrustworthy. Thus it is said. In the teachings of Shakyamuni Buddha, as you wish, the infallible speaker is the noble Nagarjuna. Nagarjuna and Asanga, you said that they hold like you. Following their treatises, I sought your intention. Thus it is said. How to obtain the correct view? In the various places of India, Nepal, and Tibet, although many wise people who speak of the meaning of the Sutras have emerged, most are only proficient in the meanings added by conceptual thoughts, and not in understanding the actual meaning. In the teachings of Shakyamuni Buddha, as you wish, the infallible speaker is the great Nagarjuna. His tenets are like the white garland of Kunda flowers. The one who truly distinguishes it is the glorious Chandrakirti. There are many who claim to be wise, claiming that the intention of these teachers is like this, but who can be sure? How can the blind distinguish the clear and colorful paintings? Like a blind person opening a treasure trove of jewels, although I do not have the pure eyes of the noble ones, through the blessings of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, I have found this profound path of dependent origination. This is the path that pleases the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas of the past, future, and present. If someone says that there is a path to liberation other than this, I will laugh at them.

Belonging to. To the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas residing in the ten directions, May they manifestly appear and with one voice and throat, Other than this, there is no other path to liberation to guide, My mind is unwavering, dear friends! Therefore, having abandoned the path of suffering, If I wish to enter the path pleasing to the Sugatas, Even with hundreds and thousands of difficulties and efforts, It is proper to enter this excellent system of Nagarjuna. If this is not realized, even if many scriptures are learned, There is no other way to realize the Sugata's intention. Mostly, it is for the sake of spreading the net of speculation, Only the exhaustion of intelligence is obtained. Therefore, for the sake of refreshing one's own memory, And for the sake of benefiting other fortunate ones, And for the sake of the long duration of the Buddha's teachings, I have explained this mother of the Buddhas of the three times. Thus it is said. The stages of how I generate the realization of Madhyamaka are as follows: First, analytical emptiness; Second, appearance emptiness; Third, understanding dependent arising as illusion; Fourth, understanding dependent arising as imputation, without a basis. The first is: Like a vase being broken by a hammer, it is the emptiness of conventional substantial existence being destroyed by reasoning. This also reverses the clinging to truth through logical analysis, and only creates the cause for faith in emptiness. The second is: Appearance is like an illusion, realizing that it is without inherent existence from the very moment of appearance. This reverses all imputations of external objects, but does not reverse the clinging to the warmth of inner experience, so it does not transcend the view of mere mind as false appearance. The third is: Both inner experience and external objects depend on causes and conditions, like an illusion, and are merely appearances in conventional truth, without any inherent existence whatsoever. This also has no clinging to extremes, but because it holds that the meaning of dependent arising does not rely on conceptual thought, but is merely an illusion, it does not transcend the Yogachara Madhyamaka. The fourth is: When phenomena are properly analyzed by reasoning through dependent arising, not even a little bit of their own essence is found, and when not analyzed, they become objects of convention, so it is realized that they are imputed by thought and merely designated by name. Now, the very mind that understands dependent arising does not err in cause and effect without relying on other minds, and is free from all extremes of permanence, annihilation, and elaboration of dependent arising.
