Sit in the vajra posture and make a vow to practice for a certain period of time. If the vow is too long, demonic obstacles will enter; if the vow is short, extend the meaning to be long-lasting. After closing the retreat, if not much time has passed, relatives, patrons, officials, and so on, are suddenly afflicted by illness and demons. They say that you must come this time, and if you don't, they will say that you have no affection and have the root of sin. Strong requests, too many words, and oaths to reinforce them. That is the demon observing the practitioner's level and loopholes. Whether it is too much expectation or coercion, you must firmly refuse, it is very important. If you go at that time, you will be controlled by obstacles (239), and you will never be able to walk the path of practice. Even if relatives and friends die, you should not go except to extensively dedicate merit and make prayers. Even if you suddenly fall ill, you can have a doctor examine you inside the retreat room, but no matter what, you must not leave the place of retreat. Even if you are going to die, you must die on that bed. That way you can win the battlefield of obstacles, you will not die, and the demon will flee in shame. Because it is not corpse yoga or chöd, so you don't show it to the doctor, don't take medicine, etc. Doing so is not allowed, despising the corpse is a root downfall. Next is the way to practice, this is the meaning heard from the mouth of the Lord of Dharma. It is divided into the practice of those with sharp faculties who follow the Dharma, and the practice of those with dull faculties who follow faith. Following the Dharma is the tradition of the panditas, if you can do that, of course it is the best. Following faith is the tradition of the yogis, most people these days (240) are like that, they say. Among them, there are three types: lower, middle, and upper, even if they have received empowerment and transmission, their understanding and wisdom are low. Having received the sequential guidance, they only know how to protect their own minds. People with faith want to practice by remembering death. Even people who don't know how to read, if such people go to the mountains and close themselves in retreat, they are of the lower faculty. At dawn, when you have just woken up from sleep, visualize the lama as the embodiment of all the Buddhas. Recite "Glorious root lama, please remember me," even if you don't understand the melody, you should call out loudly. This is called praying like a dog barking. That can dispel sleepiness, clear the mind, taking refuge, generating bodhicitta, sentient beings having happiness, etc., Everyone knows that, recite it three times. Visualize your own body as the Great Compassionate One.

Meditate on Amitabha. Recite the Ma Nam Zhi Kor three times. Recite the six-syllable mantra in a voice that is neither too loud nor too soft. Visualize that place as a place of bliss (241). Visualize all sentient beings as Avalokiteśvara. If the mind is not clear on this, reciting the six-syllable mantra is reciting the form. Appearance is the posture of the body. After all beings have transformed into Avalokiteśvara, raise your rosary and recite the six-syllable mantra. This is reciting the sound. Manifestation is the posture of speech. The six-syllable mantra places awareness on the sound. From this, understand the essential points of the generation stage. Then, in the center of your heart, visualize a white bindu the size of a bean. Do your best to keep your awareness on it. If you are not too distracted, and your mind rests on it, then the essence of mind-holding and calm abiding is contained within it. Then, without thinking of anything in your mind, look at the mind with the mind, and rest in a clear, unwavering state. Even if you do not see forms, colors, or objects, when thoughts arise suddenly, trace their origin, their movement, and their place of dwelling (242). If you do not find it, then rest in that state. From this, understand the essence of insight. Then, there is no need to constantly trace it. Whenever you remember, look directly at your own nature. In the state of not seeing, relax and rest. When thoughts arise, like water and waves, they arise from the mind and dissolve into the space of the mind. Silently recite the six-syllable mantra and protect that state. When the sun rises, prostrate a hundred times or a few times. Eat tsampa and other foods. Then, in a place where you can see the sky and your mind can relax, protect your mind and recite the six-syllable mantra. When devotion arises and experiences dawn, offer prayers and call out from afar about three times each. If you are in retreat or guarding a seat, then visualize Avalokiteśvara in your heart. Offer lunch with devotion. Again, as in the morning, begin with refuge and bodhicitta. Meditate in one session until sunset. If the body (243) has cold diseases, place a picture or statue on the pillar. If the prayer wheel is too short, you will become dizzy and fall. Turn it about twenty times from a slightly greater distance. From dusk until twilight, recite Oṃ Āḥ Hūṃ Vajra Guru Vajra Phaṭ (藏文:བཛྲ་གུ་རུ་བཛྲ་ཕཊ།,梵文天城体:वज्र गुरु वज्र फट्,梵文罗马拟音:vajra guru vajra phaṭ,汉语字面意思:金刚 上师 金刚 吽) etc. There is no need to visualize a deity, recite in the state of mind. Then again, as in the morning
