May the pure lands be blessed! (813) I pray that you will bless the dedication! With a respectful heart, I pray, The Buddhas of the past, future, and present, And Samantabhadra, Manjushri, and others, As the wise ones have made dedications, May this virtue also be accomplished in the same way. To make dedication with mere faith, Is the common dedication of the Sutra teachings. The meaning of which is detailed in "Good Conduct," "Confession," and others. The dedication, the dedicator, and the object of dedication, these three, Residing with the mind like an illusion or a dream, If one dedicates, it is a pure dedication of the three spheres. Jowo Rinpoche maintains that it arises in accordance with conditions. The meaning of which is detailed in the "Kadampa Compendium." In the view of Mahamudra and Dzogchen, the Kagyu tradition, The realized one who has generated realization, free from elaboration, To make dedication in the midst of practice, Is a complete and pure dedication of the three spheres, It is maintained that emptiness, free from elaboration, is realized directly. To this, Drogon Sakya Pandita said: If it is said that emptiness (814) free from elaboration is direct perception, Then direct realization of emptiness is the same as attaining a bhumi. The Bodhisattva who has attained the first bhumi, In an instant, in the blink of an eye, extending and retracting the hand, With a hundred emanations in a hundred pure lands, Meeting a hundred Buddhas, listening to the Dharma, With a hundred emanations in a hundred impure worlds, Each emanation accomplishing the benefit of a hundred sentient beings, The qualities of being able to shake all hundred worlds, Why are those qualities not present? The Garuda grows six wings inside the egg, Before the egg is hatched, it cannot fly. The lion possesses three powers in its mother's womb, Before it is born, it cannot display its physical strength. Likewise, even if one directly realizes emptiness, Because the ripening body grows coarse, the signs are not clear, Because the signs appear in the bardo at the time of death, The Kagyupas say that compared to the time when they actually lived, The blessings become greater after they pass away. To this, the wise Sakya Pandita said: The sun rises on (815) that day, The light is not present today but will be present tomorrow, This is the speech of a fool, it is deception. To this, Kyobpa Jigten Sumgon said: If there are signs, then it is definitely attainment of a bhumi, If there are no signs, then it is definitely not attainment of a bhumi, Who can find a scripture with such definitive Sutra and Tantra teachings? Adorn this horse with silk.

From... giving. (The Buddha) said it, but no one discovered it at that time. Regarding that meaning, the Maitreya Prophecy Sutra says: Maitreya became a monk, undefeated, and when Shakyamuni Buddha was dwelling in front of him, he said, "This is the future Buddha Maitreya." Although the Buddha said it, the retinue did not believe it, (saying) this (person) does not even have a single sign or merit, has not abandoned afflictions, and is just an ordinary monk. How could such a person become the fifth Buddha? When thinking about it, the Maitreya Prophecy Sutra was spoken. Therefore, even if there are no signs or merits, (it) is not that he has not realized emptiness, which is very clear in that sutra. (816) Therefore, in the two views of Mahamudra and Dzogchen, the individual who has realized beyond elaboration, without distraction, dedicates the merit, which is definitely a dedication with the three wheels pure. Buddha, Bodhi, Shravaka, Pratyekabuddha, and the ordinary beings respectively, whatever good deeds they do, with pure intention, practice rejoicing, and one also obtains those roots of virtue equally. Thus, the merit of practicing rejoicing, and everything that the benefactor has done for oneself, all the merits to be dedicated are gathered together, dedicated to all Buddhas as clouds of offerings, dedicated for the flourishing of the Buddha's teachings, dedicated for the long life and vast activities of the holders of the teachings, dedicated for the peace and happiness of all worlds, dedicated for all sentient beings to attain Bodhi. In this way, even if it is any one of these ways of dedication, a small merit will increase into immeasurable great merit. That meaning is spoken in many sutras such as the Vajra Banner Dedication Sutra. (817) Then gather all of those together, dedicate to oneself or the benefactor, the deceased, etc., dedicate to having happiness in all lifetimes, and ultimately to attaining Buddhahood. That is the ordinary dedication for the dead and the dedication for the living. Offering dedication also has two types, medium and excellent. The medium is that the roots of virtue ripen for the deceased, in order to realize the Dharmakaya for oneself, and in all pure Form Body realms, to show the symbolic Dharma of the complete Enjoyment Body, and in countless impure worlds, to guide beings with emanations according to what is tamable, and also to pacify obstacles and adverse conditions for the followers, and to dedicate and pray for the flourishing of the lineage and the Dharma lineage. The excellent one is the complete and perfect Buddha Lama, the three bodies pure.
