At that time, many monks offered vows, and the teacher praised this. Therefore, since no one to be tamed was found, cultivate the joy of reducing the obstacles of possessions. Towards that patron and that village, completely abandon unpleasant thoughts, and cultivate giving and receiving with love and compassion. Then, once again wandering, wanting to go to an unknown and unfamiliar village or hamlet, the monks said they would not go. Just as Milarepa said, do not be greedy for large tents, and do not abandon small monkeys. Walk along the way, he said. Unfamiliar households are busy, and under the cushions are black woolen fabrics. Request blessings, request teachings, request empowerment, request (628) audience, request writing, request dedication. The beggars of the village gathered together, filling the front with food and drink. Unfamiliar, unacquainted, and undeserving, this family is so respectful and cautious. Thinking what is this, the teachers and students are all happy and smiling. All the tea dregs are smeared on the eyes and neck. Unreasonably very devout. At that time, the joy of gaining gains, that high mood, is one of the eight worldly dharmas. The idea of distinguishing is groundlessly dissolved in the realm of view, and if the two thoughts of gaining and not gaining are equal without difference, then the small equality is there, and once liberation is attained, then it is liberated. The tenth chapter of the song of gaining and not gaining equality. The one named Life and Diligence Ocean, when going to distant Kalong, turned over the mountain top because the mountain road was too high, and was hungry because the road was too long. Violent hail was falling, dark and black. Afraid of robbers (629), mad dogs, and wolves. Not finding people is painful, not having clothes is cold is also painful, and the pain of having difficulty getting through is these three. Abandoning the painful worldly family life, I have no reason to feel pain. We teachers and students, except for talking about it, have no other means of making a living, so why is there such pain? Life is short, wandering around, with a haggard face, and the patrons will also be bored. Entering the Buddhist gate is a good thing, but begging for a lifetime is very painful. If there is an enjoyment that does not require begging, how good would it be, so I envy the rich, poverty

It's painful to search but not find. It's painful for the rich to be unable to sustain their livelihood. Everyone has these two. It's not because you've entered the Dharma gate, but because you've taken a human body. Look at the essence of those thoughts. Great hardship and the essence of thoughts mixed together produce a power. Those realized ones who have traveled the kingdoms (630) came to seek that hardship. Even if you don't go looking for hardship, you can mix it with what arises naturally. The vow without attachment is the inheritance given by the Buddha. There is no obstacle of offerings in it. Again, on the path of coming, among many wealthy great families, carrying dried meat, butter, etc., over mountains and lands, all the mountains and lands are speckled with horses, sheep, and livestock. The sun is warm, and rainbows and clouds intertwine. The meadow has the color of jade, and various flowers bloom, like a great garden. Bees and cuckoos sing sweetly, and the flowing water makes a pleasant tinkling sound. The mind also becomes happy and joyful. It's delightful to sit in that meadow. I want to pray and sing songs. At that time, all the flowers are offered in mind to the Yidam deity. Otherwise, if you step on blue flowers, you will break the Samaya of the Secret Lord (Vajrapani). In the middle of the flower garden, spread a cushion, straighten your body, and feel (631) happy, clear, and ethereal. Look intently at those thoughts. When the two thoughts of joy and frustration are balanced in the state of viewing, the subtle balance is there. The small power comes from it. Likewise, the body is comfortable, and the mind has no pain. The sun is warm, and food and drink are plentiful. I know the key points of the Dharma. I don't need to ask anyone. Even if I die, I don't have to worry about falling into the lower realms. This life has been dedicated to the Dharma. The mind is full of joy and happiness, but it is tormented by various illnesses and sufferings. Why do I encounter such things? Place your hope in the Three Jewels, and carefully perform rituals and offerings to avert illness and misfortune. Is it an obstacle from demons and evil spirits? Or the curses and evil spells of others? Or the ripening of past bad karma? Or the great conspiracy of worldly gods and spirits? How can it be cured, how can it be beneficial, many thoughts. Like this, when the two thoughts of happiness and suffering are balanced in the state of viewing, this is the tradition of Panchen Shakya Shri, which is the advice to transform happiness and suffering (632) into the path. This is the tenth chapter of the song of transforming happiness and suffering into the path.
