Turning back amulets and, Whatever empowerments, transmissions, and instructions are done, Are obstacles and long-term obscurations of this life, Great obstacles to attaining enlightenment. Understand all beings as parents, Especially those who have expectations of you. Patrons should eliminate the obstacles of this life, And learn virtues from those who have merit. This is beneficial in this life. Patrons seek empowerments and amulets, And learn to practice closeness from virtuous scholars, As well as introductions to experience and realization, etc., This is the way to obtain happiness in the next life. Placing beings in benefit and happiness, Is the fundamental principle of the Buddha's teachings. Although there is no difference in how these two are done, They are different due to the difference in intention. The gateway to the activities of Bodhisattvas for the benefit of beings, Is called the activity of taming beings. Rainmaking and village rituals for the sake of livelihood, Are similar, similar, similar, and easily confused. Whether it is confused or not, one knows in one's own mind. Monks who are handsome and wear (589) fine clothes, And many who chant fluently, If they gather together, great lamas will naturally come. Wherever they go, there are beings to be tamed. Thinking of this, many young people gather around. Thinking that fragments of chanting are Dharma. Those whose minds are tamed and have experience and realization, Are as rare as stars in the daytime. The main practice has become profit and trade. Attachment, hatred, and desire burn like fire. Rituals for the living, Dharma for the dead, They think that is enough. Greedy for wealth, not knowing contentment. All vows and commitments, If they have not heard from lamas, judges, etc., They think that is enough. Men gathering together is a gathering. Gatherings also have good, bad, and medium types. One should have a pure view of the actual Sangha. Monastic robes, Dharma robes, skirts, etc., Even in thousands of kalpas, It is difficult to wear them even once. Even in times when the teachings are in danger, All the monastic robes, (590) The gods will take them to the heavenly realms, And it is said in the scriptures that they will be made into stupas and offered. Even if it is difficult to treat all enemies equally, But among the many monks, If there are only a few, Geshes who benefit the teachings, Realizers who have experience and realization, Mantra holders who diligently practice, And fully ordained Bhikshus, Even if only one appears, it is priceless. Those who previously held the Vinaya, Whatever wealth or property they received, Should offer it to the Sangha, In order to make the Sangha flourish and benefit the teachings. This was their last will and testament. There are many ways to offer wealth, but

If one can universally circulate among the Sangha, it will benefit both the Dharma and sentient beings. Like Drukpa Ngawang Zangpo and Karma Tenpel Gyaltsara, and many other lamas, although they did not make any offerings such as painting Buddha images or building statues, they maintained the Sangha with wealth, and thus the Dharma spread throughout the eastern region of Dokham. The forefathers of the Kagyu lineage, such as Dagpo Phag(591)dru, also acted in this way, thereby propagating the Dharma. Regarding this, in the White Lotus Sutra, in the prophecy concerning the offering to monks, it is mentioned that for all the assembled retinues, including five hundred pure disciples and five hundred impure disciples, with the perception of them as the actual Sangha, giving abundant service and offerings, and dedicating it to unsurpassed Bodhi, then this person, immediately after death, will be reborn in Sukhavati, and will also be prophesied to attain unsurpassed Bodhi. For later practitioners, there is great inspiration in this. Gathering retinues out of desire for the eight worldly concerns, and establishing a Sangha for the sake of the Dharma, these two may seem similar, but are easily confused. Be careful not to confuse them, and pay attention to your motivation. Similarly, for horses, mules, livestock, etc., if one is bound by attachment, it is like the bait of a demon, and is the cause of falling into the lower realms. There is no difference between this and ordinary nomads. For the sake of practice offerings (592), seasonal offerings, nine kinds of Torma, and for the resources for retreat practice, and for maintaining the Sangha, no matter how much wealth there is, there is no fault. The great accomplished Karma Pakshi, when he was about to go to China, intended to destroy all the storehouses of Tsurphu Monastery, leaving none behind. At that time, the self-arisen deity Palden Lhamo personally appeared and said, "You still have many things to do in this life, do not destroy a single storehouse." The meaning was to keep all the wealth. Later, Tsurphu Monastery built the great hall and the Five Dhyani Buddhas Avalokiteshvara, etc. Similarly, accumulating wealth for the sake of offering to the Three Jewels and maintaining the Sangha, and cruelly exploiting due to stinginess, although the ways of acting are similar, the motivation is completely different. Therefore, in the Vinaya Sutra, it is also said that a Shramanera and a Bhikshu should not accept gold and silver, but for the sake of temples and the Sangha, even hundreds of thousands of large amounts of gold and silver are allowed to be managed (593). Similarly, offerings and objects to be tamed, etc., are immeasurable.
