Therefore, realize that the very nature of the grasping mind is emptiness. (201) Do not become attached to the object of grasping. After that, without artificial fabrication, whatever arises, forms, sounds, smells, tastes, touches, all kinds of appearing phenomena, are like the reflection of the moon in water. Although they appear distinctly, their essence appears as emptiness. Thoughts are also the same. There is no difference between dwelling, moving, and essence. Like water and waves, they are self-liberated. This is called the nature of reality. Although one has realized the complete emptiness, there are still many times of distraction and forgetfulness. When distracted, it is a common illusion. Whatever afflictions arise are common. Afterwards, when one remembers, one regrets thinking of bad things because of distraction. At that time, if one looks outward at the afflictive thoughts, one will see emptiness nakedly as before. At this time, it seems very important to clarify again and again with mindfulness. There is no difference between distraction and non-distraction. There is no difference between illusion and non-illusion. Sometimes a rough outline of understanding arises, thinking that everything is empty. If one is too confident and too relaxed about this, there is a danger of falling into ordinariness. It is important to distinguish between understanding and realization. Put the understanding of scriptures behind you. From confidence, a constant clinging arises that there is no difference between distraction and non-distraction. In reality, although it is so, one still needs to clarify again and again with mindfulness, without forgetting. Why is this? Because the thoughts of the five poisons have not been suppressed. When one hears bad words, etc., or makes a slip of the tongue at that time, etc., it is certain that it is a fault of distraction. Therefore, one needs to remember again and again. Now, there is no distinction between clarity and non-clarity. When it is unclear, one should observe its state. This is the essence of meditation, neither empty nor mediocre. If one is not satisfied with this (202), then the thought will lose its practice. In practice, there is no choice between good and bad. One should hold whatever arises as sufficient and keep it in one's heart. Although there is no difference between distraction and non-distraction, one should clarify with mindfulness. At the moment of remembering, clarify with the ocean of diligence. The above is the manuscript. Or the following is the word of the student. In the year of the Water Hare (1963), on the tenth day of the upper month, near the precious place, I stayed at Trateng Gar for one day. At that time, when I met him, I offered material offerings, auspicious khatas, and a mandala worth ten gold srangs. I also offered tea to the monks, not just in words.

With respectful devotion and prostrations with faith in the three doors (body, speech, and mind), when I say, "My mind is the eternal practice, it is like this," the venerable one, an emanation of the actual Chenrezig, the kind Ra Ga A Syas Yi, personally wrote and bestowed this oral instruction that dispels the darkness of the heart. Such a precious wish-fulfilling jewel of secret mantra oral transmission, even if sought in the three realms, is thought to be extremely difficult to find. It is like the heart essence of the ocean of diligence. Thinking that many future fortunate beings will benefit, I recorded it on paper without an index. Keep it secret from those who are vessels, and even more so from those who are not, this is the secret oath. Mangalam! Cham! From the oral instruction lineage of mountain dharma retreat instructions, the three vows, generation and completion stage meditation and recitation, a concise summary of the oral instructions on how to practice with one-pointedness. The one called Lama Tsondu Gyatso, although there were many questions and points before and after, was unable to write in detail due to illness. (203) Please refer to the sutras, tantras, and treatises, where there are clear explanations. When receiving the three vows, it is necessary to have the thought of renunciation and bodhicitta, as well as generating compassion, etc. If these are lacking, they will not arise as they are. Merely receiving them with faith and pure perception, and then requesting sequential guidance, or through hearing and thinking, generating renunciation and altruistic thoughts, etc., then the vows received will become purified. There is no need to receive them again, etc. Many wise ones, such as Akshobhya, and the supreme emanation personally proclaimed. Nowadays, it is enough to just do that much. As long as the four root downfalls are not broken, and one does not abandon or contradict the virtuous mind, one is now considered to be a holder of vows. Nowadays, everyone thinks it is enough to just do that much. In order to attain perfect enlightenment for the benefit of beings, not abandoning the desire to attain that state, and dedicating all virtuous deeds to that cause, this is the concise teaching of the bodhisattva vows, as the Buddha proclaimed. Even if it is difficult to ascertain whether the lama is a true Buddha, one should meditate with the faith of seeing the lama as inseparable from the yidam deity. The body is visualized as the deity, the speech recites mantras, and one strives to practice the generation and completion stages. One should regularly offer tormas and tsok, and make offerings on any auspicious day. This clearly gathers the vows of the three roots. At the beginning of virtuous deeds, generate the excellent bodhicitta, and in actual practice, in sessions and in between sessions.
