Torma rituals (339) and the like that are not based on explanations and so on should be discontinued, along with the three: worldly gods, protectors, and offerings of meat and alcohol. The final tsok and the hundredth tsok, etc., should maintain the fundamental activities of the Nyingma school. Methods of accomplishment, subsequent permissions, empowerments, etc., that are groundlessly fabricated by fools, and impure elements inserted by the unskilled, should be discarded. As for tormas decorated with Nepalese wool and the like, there is no such practice in India, and there is not even a hint of it mentioned in any Indian texts. However, some capable Tibetan Nyingma mantra practitioners, (340) some malicious worldly mothers and the like manifested their bodies and said, "In order to fulfill our wishes, make the torma in this way!" Thus, they composed a large number of complex torma rituals. They composed great tantras that proclaim these contents, and based on this, the torma rituals became very popular. Some lamas also encountered protectors who said, "Do it this way," and then they did it. Gonpo Yeshepa and others also seemed to have the need to fulfill the wishes of many worldly retinues, so there is no conflict in doing a little when they see a need that is in accordance with the Dharma. The distinction between pure and (341) impure has been briefly discussed above. Now, I will briefly discuss the differences in deity yoga and hand implements, etc. In some Indian texts of Shavaripa, it says, "The right hand holds a curved knife, the middle one holds a rosary." However, in many texts it says, "The right hand holds a rosary, the middle one holds a curved knife." Therefore, some people think, "The first right hand holds a curved knife." Some people think, "The first right hand holds a rosary." In general, both are acceptable, there is nothing that forbids it. However, if we consider the context of the six secret activities, it is not appropriate for the first hand to hold a rosary, (342) there is no reason why it is not appropriate." In the Indian texts of Sarahha, it is recorded that the first right hand holds a curved knife. According to Rahula, the first right hand holds a curved knife, the middle one holds a sandalwood stick, and the last one holds a hand drum.

For the upper ones, the biographies of the great Indian siddhas seem like excuses. Many of my lamas have said this, and I have also seen that it is true. Among them, according to the tradition of Lama Maitripa, the self-generation deity is Vajrapani, the activity deity is the goddess, and the main activity is the great bali offering. According to the tradition of Lama Rahula (343), both the self-generation deity and the front-generation deity are Mahakala. The activity deity is generally the four Yakshas, and especially Kshetrāpāla is the main one. The practice relies on a sandalwood statue, and the main activity is fire offering. This comes from the oral tradition of the former lamas. Some lamas say that the self-generation deity is Vajrapani, some say it is Hayagriva. Although many think that it is more profound to practice both the self-generation deity and the front-generation deity as Mahakala himself, some say that Vajrapani must be determined. This Mahakala's tantra is known as the Black Cemetery, which says: The mother is the cemetery Saraha (344), the father is Garab Dorje, the mother gives the curved knife in hand, and gives longevity to all beings. Bhagavan Vajrapani, having given the vajra in his hand, vowed to protect the teachings of the past, future, and present. Therefore, it seems worth considering that the fierce son of Garab Dorje, the lord of subjugating others, is done in the way that Vajrapani subdued him, but those two tantras, most of the scholars who are proficient in many tantras, consider them to be controversial. Some also say that Hayagriva must be determined, which is also because the tantra says, "Then meditate on the self-generation deity on the lotus," which is worth considering (345). Saraha's Indian texts say, "Generate yourself as Heruka." In the three small books of Abhisamayalankara, extensive, medium, and concise, written by Khyunpo, it says, "Then generate yourself as any chosen deity." That is also the case. Furthermore, a yogi who has not broken his vows, manifests the pride of the chosen deity, such as the king of wrathful deities or Vajradhara, the lord of all families, and through recitation and practice to a certain extent, abides in such a firm pride of the deity, invites the Dharma protectors, commands the Dharma protectors, and entrusts activities (346), etc. The Dharma protectors are beyond the world.
