At the time of dreams, O transformative woman! Please sever the bonds of self-arising delusion. O you who cause the spontaneously accomplished light to dawn! Please dispel the darkness of ignorance. At the time of death, O guide! Please lead us to the realm of the Dakinis. O you who subdue the illusory appearances of the Bardo! Please bestow the indestructible Sambhogakaya. This is also by Immutability. Dharmedaṃ udaya mastu. (Tibetan: དྷརྨེ་དཾ་ཨུ་ད་ཡ་མ་སྟུ།) The Root and Commentary of the Eight Songs of Khyenpo is here. Namo Guru. This is the instruction of the great accomplished Rahula, the song composed by Lama Shangpa: The dualistic thoughts of grasping and being grasped are very noisy. The instructions for the three dissolutions are complete. Turn back the battleground of grasping and being grasped from there. Make grasping and being grasped as pleased as they like. Great God (page 433) White Model, very noisy. The instructions for the three high drops are complete. Turn back the battleground of the Great God from there. Make the Great God as pleased as they like. Black Naga Demon, very noisy. The instructions for skull union are complete. Turn back the battleground of the Naga Demon from there. Make the Naga Demon as pleased as they like. Night Spirit, very noisy. The instructions for nectar bindu are complete. Turn back the battleground of the Spirit from there. Make the Spirit as pleased as they like. Black Curse, very noisy. The instructions for black stone slab are complete. Turn back the battleground of the Black Curse. Turn back the battleground of the Planetary Demon from there. Make All-Pervading as pleased as they like. Because the speech has not been blessed, the recitations have no power. The instructions for Ali Kali are complete. (Tibetan: ཨཱ་ལི་ཀ་ལི།) There is no doubt of not accomplishing. These eight songs were spoken by Khyenpo in the assembly. Among them, first, wanting to practice the instructions for the three dissolutions, first go through refuge and bodhicitta. All these sentient beings of the six realms wander in samsara. Those who experience suffering take it with the dualistic thoughts of grasping and being grasped. Therefore, all the thoughts of attachment to the external objects of grasping are meditated upon as dissolving like dreams and illusions. Of the mind that grasps at them,

Meditate on that conceptual thought also dissolving into appearance without inherent existence. Likewise, meditate on the consciousness that meditates dissolving into the realm of phenomena. This is the wisdom of non-conceptualization in equipoise. In the post-meditation state, the measure of accomplishing the meaning of mind should be non-attachment to appearances. If you can practice this instruction, there is no doubt about attaining Buddhahood. Dissolving Threefold ཨིྀྠ. The meaning of the second song: If you encounter slander or harsh treatment from a king or others, first take refuge and generate bodhicitta. Twist three strands of wool into one, make three knots, and tie it in the center of a secret vajra. Tie the two ends of the thread around your waist. If the vajra points upwards, you will be able to overcome all external demons. Infuse many deities of the yidam into this protective thread and recite many mantras. Imagine your body ablaze with fire. (436) Protecting from slander ཨིྀྠ. The meaning of the third song: If you are harmed by nagas, demons, or spirits, or by Damchen (oath-bound spirits), imagine yourself placing a single skull, divided into two halves about the size of a white bre, with a three-pointed khatvanga marked with ཧཱུྃ (Tibetan ཧཱུྃ, Devanagari हूँ, Romanized Sanskrit hūṃ, literal meaning: Hum) in the center of the horns, and then fall asleep. If you can meditate on this skull union without breaking it, then all curses, black magic, Damchen, and harmful spirits will not be able to harm you. Third ཨིྀྠ. The meaning of the fourth song: If you want to protect beings at night, if you go to a dangerous place like a cemetery at night, or go to an unfamiliar place, first take refuge and generate bodhicitta. Take a small amount of your own excrement and the first urine, about the size of a sheep's hoof, in the palm of your right hand, rub it with the ring finger of your left hand, (437) take it with your ring finger and place it on your forehead, make a circle from the side of your little finger, visualize yourself as the yidam, and recite the mantra at the beginning and end of your journey, then you will be able to overcome all harm from nocturnal spirits. This is said to be a great protection. The meaning of the fifth song: The so-called black curse, if you want to protect against the curses of the Bon religion, place a black stone slab in a dumb spring facing north. When someone casts a spell, avoid your shadow and breath from falling on the stone slab, and then cover it with silk or cloth.
