(331) It exists inseparably, but is obstructed by your own uncleansed sins and the hope of wanting to see it. If you don't believe it, ask, the old woman spoke in detail about seeing the white dog, etc. In short, the lama is not non-existent, but is not seen because of one's own uncleansed sins. Sakya Pandita said: In the past, when praying, like the teacher Asanga, even though he actually relied on the lama Maitreya, he only saw a dog because of impure appearances. Now, we see the lama as a human, and seeing someone slightly better among humans is not a small fortune, and the accumulation is not small either. Therefore, at this time, one must strive on the path to enlightenment. It is said that the two, Shantipa and Guhyapa, searched for Tara and the Wrathful One in the Potala, but could not find them. Then, in one place, there were two old women spinning thread. Shantipa thought, no one else will come to this place, if these two are it, then it's okay, otherwise the Pandita will say that he asked for Dharma from two old women and become a fool. Continuing to search, they still couldn't find them, and thought, now these two must be it, so they went to ask for Dharma. After that, the two returned after a long time, and slept in a cave on the way. They had never discussed Dharma before. That night, they discussed, how long have we been away from home? What Dharma did we hear? What qualities arose? Shantipa developed immeasurable qualities. Guhyapa attained one Siddhi of swift feet. Then Guhyapa thought, (333) he has developed so many qualities, I am a Pandita, and I am not as good as him, and a little jealousy arose in his mind. When it was time to fetch water, Guhyapa was younger, and they were also teacher and student, so he went to fetch water in a bamboo tube. As a result, the swift feet disappeared, and he felt heavier than before, and said that my swift feet had disappeared. Shantipa said, why don't you go back and ask them, so they went back to them. The two of them said, you doubted us at first, and you were jealous of your friend's qualities, so purify impure appearances, etc., and spoke these teachings. The so-called "great obstacle maker" is the continuation of the activity.

In the activity of Chö, he emanates as demons, famine, etc. (334), to benefit sentient beings. Furthermore, it is said that some accomplished masters would disguise themselves as Brahmins to show deception. In the "Five Stages," it says, "This is the self-born Bhagavan, the sole great Lord, because he bestows all instructions, the Vajra Master is superior to that." Thus it is said. The Lama who understands the meaning of the three times is very kind. Sakya Paṇḍita said, "Even if the sunlight is very hot, fire will not arise without a magnifying glass. Similarly, the blessings of the Buddha will not arise without a Lama." Therefore, for example, even though the spring sun is shining and the heat makes you dizzy, fire will not arise without a magnifying glass or mirror. The sun's rays are gathered on a clean magnifying glass or mirror (335), and when it is pointed at dry tinder, fire will arise immediately. Similarly, although the Buddhas of the ten directions and three times possess wisdom, compassion, and power, blessings will not arise without a Lama. Therefore, the compassion of the Buddha, which is like sunlight, is gathered on the Lama, who is like a magnifying glass or mirror. If a qualified disciple, like dry tinder, prays, they will attain Buddhahood in one lifetime and one body, therefore the Lama is very kind. When the teacher Buddha Jñāna was teaching Dharma in front of the mandala of his retinue, the teacher Mañjuśrīmitra and some others came. He did not prostrate to the retinue, but said some fragmented Dharma (336) and left, saying, "Now I don't see." After prostrating there, as soon as he said, "I don't see," his eyes fell to the ground. There he prayed and asked for forgiveness, and he said, "May you be endowed with the eye of wisdom," and it became so. Rinpoche said: They have turned the ruins of a stupa into a temple. If we all do that, I am afraid that the door will be broken and the wealth will be lost. When taking everything that is said as a standard, there is no fault of breaking the word if one considers covering up. After breaking the Lama's word, the practitioner just wraps his head and meditates dimly. Breaking the word is the self-characteristic of the practitioner who only wraps his head, so it is important to practice according to the word. Taking everything the Lama says as a standard.
