is the body of... Do not regard it as the Rupakaya. Thus it is said. The Vajracchedika says: "Those who see me in form, those who seek me in sound, (226) that person walks the wrong path, and cannot see the Tathagata. The Buddhas are the Dharmakaya." Thus it is said. The Uttaratantra says: "To go for the sake of the ultimate meaning, the only refuge is the Buddha. Because the protector has the Dharmakaya, the Sangha is also the ultimate." Thus it is said. The marks and signs etc. are common qualities, therefore, they are not the definitive cause of Buddhahood. Some say: "Due to the difference between abandonment and realization, the Buddha is the Dharmakaya." If it is said that ordinary beings do not have the nature of the Dharmakaya, that is not reasonable. The Nirvana Sutra says: "Shariputra, what is called the realm of sentient beings is another name for the Tathagatagarbha. What is called the Tathagata (227) garbha is another name for the Dharmakaya. The Tathagatagarbha itself is not other than the Dharmakaya." Thus it is said. Therefore, the clear light of the mind's own nature is determined to be the Dharmakaya. Third, the fault of not recognizing it even though certainty arises because it is too profound is that one does not pay attention to ordinary consciousness, but is stunned. This appears at all times when cessation and rest occur, and also when the winds enter the central channel. Because one is not separated from special methods such as the three self-arisen ones, one is distracted by the net of conceptual thoughts and separated from the guard of non-distraction. Now, when the preliminaries arise, one thinks: "Have my preliminaries arisen?" and thereby recognizes this clear and empty Dharmakaya as the path. (228) Fourth, the fault of being too good to be contained in the mind is similar to the fault of being too easy to believe above. By referring to the scriptural citations spoken in the Sutras, Tantras, and Shastras, one determines that this unmodified ordinary consciousness is the Dharmakaya, and thereby is liberated from the fourth fault. Thus, by recognizing the nature of the mind, the fault of not recognizing it is naturally liberated. By determining ordinary consciousness as the Dharmakaya, the fault of being too good to be contained in the mind is naturally liberated. Thus, the four faults of the main practice are naturally liberated. This is called "Introducing the Son of a Thief."

The preliminary practices proceed as before, and in the empty space in front, there is nothing that is composed of objects such as color and shape. The radiance is unceasing, appearing empty. It is also not different from one's own mind, that is, the inseparability of clarity and emptiness or the inseparability of awareness and emptiness, which is the original mind or the nature of Dharma, that is, the reality of the nature of things. Saraha said, "Hold the mind like the sky, and also hold the mind as the nature of the sky." It also says, "In the nature of the primordially pure sky, seeing and seeing cease." In the Two Truths Sutra, it says, "This wisdom is extremely subtle, like the center of the vajra sky. It is free from dust and attains ultimate peace. You yourself are also its father." The Supreme Intent Sutra says, "The wisdom of mere self-awareness is like the sky, without characteristics." The Sutra says, "The inexpressible, unthinkable, and unspeakable Prajnaparamita, the unborn, unceasing nature of the sky, the object of the wisdom of individual self-awareness, I prostrate to the mother of the Buddhas of the three times." After that, when the mind of the blessings of the noble Guru is self-aware and personally experienced, there is experience, but it cannot be expressed in words, nor can it be indicated by tangible things. Tilopa said, "Alas! This is self-aware wisdom, beyond the path of speech, not the object of the mind. I, Tilopa, have nothing to indicate, one should know oneself by oneself." Saraha said, "Devoid of color, letters, qualities, and metaphors, it cannot be expressed in sound, but can only be slightly indicated by 'Gina'. Like the pleasure of a young girl clinging to the heart, who can indicate that supreme joy?" That awareness of clarity and emptiness is called the alaya, the primordially pure nature. The Ornamented Dense Sutra says, "Awareness of clarity and emptiness is the alaya, which is called the unindicated." It is also called the inseparability of samsara and nirvana. The Two Truths Sutra says, "This is called samsara, this is nirvana. For those who have abandoned samsara, nirvana cannot be found, whatever is the nature of samsara, that is called nirvana." Nagarjuna said, "Samsara and nirvana, both are here."
