After the quiescence occurred, everything was buzzing. Rinpoche said that everything should be quiet, and the yogi should abide in the quiescence of the Dharmadhatu. All wrong views were eliminated, and it became indisputable. Then, a monk from Khampa Rongpo said, "It seems there are six dharmas, please teach them." When told there were none, he didn't listen. Even when told there was no basis, he didn't listen. Then, he grabbed the other's hands with both of his hands and said, "Lau, I will die too, and you will die too." My qualities, whether I die tonight or tomorrow, arise from the impermanence of thinking, devotion to the lama, and the expectation of unreal illusion. (357) Is there anything more than that?" After saying that, he closed his eyes to rest. Generating certainty based on the words of Dampa Marpo: A patron who had been a patron of Dampa Marpo for a long time said, "Now I am old, please teach me a Dharma that is concise, meaningful, and easy to practice." Dampa Marpo said, "Make a hundred and eight tsok offerings." Even after doing that, it didn't last long. He said again, "Please teach me now." Dampa Marpo said, "Because there are some things that others cannot hear, use a set of tsok offerings and go to a place where there is no one." So they went to a cave, and Dampa Marpo said, "See if there is anyone there." He said, "There is no one." Dampa Marpo said, "Now grab my hand and look at my mouth (358)." After doing that, Dampa Marpo said, "Oh, I will die too, and you will die too, and I am giving you such a profound Dharma." The patron thought, "What need is there for a hundred and eight tsok offerings for this Dharma? I have met an old swindler." That night he didn't sleep at all. At dawn, he slept a little, and suddenly, the realization of death and impermanence arose in his mind. Dampa Marpo said, "At that time, a good mind of abandoning this life arose." Generating certainty based on the words of Zhang Rinpoche: Zhang Rinpoche said, "Not being liberated from samsara is because, in terms of reality, one has not realized the ultimate truth. That is because faith has not arisen. That is because one has not remembered death (359). If a genuine realization of death and impermanence arises in the mind, then the faith of renunciation will arise spontaneously, and one will accumulate merit. That will purify obscurations. That will realize the meaning of reality, and one will be liberated from samsara." For those of superior and middling faculties, after explaining the Dharma three to six times, give the transmission of the

That support leads to generating certainty and then to absorption. Generally, in the Dagpo tradition, wise Dharma friends purify and only show the surface of the target, without elaborating. However, in this tradition, the essence of leading to absorption is achieved by generating certainty from the support of scriptural authority from the sutras and tantras (360), so what is said in the sutras and tantras should be understood as the essence of meditation. For great meditators, it is necessary to understand what is said in the sutras and tantras. Meditation that is inconsistent with the sutras and tantras is meaningless. Bimala has spoken of four faults: being separated from the basis of scriptural authority; being accompanied by artificial embellishments; being seized by demons when weakened; and obstacles turning into adverse conditions. There are three aspects to appearance as mind: The philosophical view adopted by the wise is: the experience of non-dual awareness, self-knowing and self-illuminating, yet clinging to reality. What is explained from the final teaching, which is the complete determination of ultimate truth, is appearance as mind. It is the mind free from the grasping of subject and object. Abiding in the true meaning, (361) one attains peace through mind-only. The yogi who abides in non-appearance sees the Great Vehicle. Thus it is said. The appearance as mind in mantra is the mind free from all grasping of the deity's form. In the tradition of the characteristic vehicle, during practice, appearance is considered emptiness, like space; and subsequent wisdom is bliss-emptiness, like illusion, thus considering practice to be different. Here, all appearances, sounds, and phenomena arise as one's own mind. In the 'Two Examinations Tantra,' it says: The nature of mind is vast and unique, shown in the form of the five. That is, the five aggregates, the five elements, the five poisons, the six senses, the six sense objects, (362) the six colors, the six realms, and so on, all arise as one's own mind. The form aggregate is not of vajra nature. Thus it is said. In the 'Lankavatara Sutra,' it says: The mind disturbed by habitual tendencies, greatly arises as objects. Objects are not real, but the nature of mind, seeing objects as real is delusion. Thus it is said. In a song, it says: Apart from the precious mind, there is no Buddha and no sentient being. All the objects of consciousness, there is not a single one that exists outside. Thus it is said. If the six realms of beings are arranged on the bank of a river, hell beings see boiling water of anger, pretas see pus and blood, (363) asuras see weapons, humans and animals see water, and fish and so on see houses.
